We were there the week of Christmas and although it was crowded, the standby times posted were on average at least 20 minutes more than what we actually waited. Which used to happen from time to time, but this was consistently every attraction. I had a friend go a couple of weeks later and they had the same experience only much more obvious. For example: BTM was posted at 55, and it took them 10 minutes to get through the line. I do wonder if management has been told to post longer times to boost Genie+ sales. If people monitor wait times before their park day and see that the wait times are outrageous, they'll get up on park day and buy Genie+. It's not the first time Disney has cultivated a false sense of FOMO or scarcity in order to sell more product. Everyone remember the Disney Vault method of rereleasing movies over and over again in the 90s? Guess who's idea that was. Bob Chapek. He was the marketing director at Disney Home Entertainment Division (Buena Vista) at the time. I kind of feel like that's what they're doing with the annual passes to boost sales when the open it back up but that's pure informed speculation.

Last trip I discovered that the only times genie+ felt worth it was on days when you are both willing to be awake at 7am to book your lighting lanes and yet you wont really be in the park until much later which is a rare situation. I booked lightning lanes for my familys first day (arriving in the afternoon) and by booking in the morning and during my flight we arrived at the parks after check in in the afternoon and were able to knock out five attractions (2 lines and 3 LLs) in about 4 hours. I could see this working if you didnt have to have reservations for the park you were booking lls for (or you could reserve where you planned to park hop) You could wake up, pick up lightning lanes throughout the day while ropedropping another park, have a lunch time rest and then use your collected lightning lanes and wait in a few short lines at your park hop park.
I personally wouldnt buy Genie+ again unless it is completely retooled

Holy Cannoli that is so busy. We used to go around 3 times a year to Disney. We have DVC points and worked it to where we could get a studio for about 4-6 nights per vacation. However, even with DVC points that are already prepaid, our vacation for a family of 5 is still costing us approximately $4k (without a room fee) and we drive there! We evacuated recently for a hurricane and we stayed at a Universal hotel (Dockside. Albeit not on the grounds, we had a room for 5 nights that slept 6, had 4 day park tickets including Volcano Bay and park to park for approximately $2, 200. MIND BLOWN. And, we are now slowly shifting to be a Universal Studios family. Their parks were incredible and with that new park coming, I'll take my thousands I budget each year and get a more enjoyable experience. Props to the Coke refill stations too! lol

When I was a kid we were at Disney world on vacation and one of my teeth was loose and another girl at the park had lost hers while on the teacups and swallowed it and my parents wouldn't let me go on any more rides until we pulled it out or we had to go back to the hotel and just sit in the hotel so we pulled it out in front of Toontown. And then my mom said that Tinkerbell was the tooth fairy for Disney world and that if I put my tooth under my pillow maybe she would bring me the Eeyore with detachable tail that I looked at and wanted and when I woke up the next morning I had gotten my ear with detachable tail so yes children do lose their teeth on vacation in Disney world it's one of my favorite memories from Disney world and I'm so sad that Toontown is gone

I can only imagine this being the funnest job ever but at some point do you guys ever say, ugh. same thing different day? How do you keep it interesting and fun? Every job has it's downfalls and I would not enjoy the lines and crowds. I enjoy watching you guys enjoy and showcase your trips! I know you've been at this for years now and it's worked out for you guys.

With regards to the tooth fairy, my daughter lost her first tooth on a Disney Cruise. She got a free pin and Tinkerbell assured her that her friend, the tooth fairy would find her on the cruise. She ended up getting $5 USD for that tooth (were Canadians) because it was all the tooth fairy had!

We were at Disneyland when you filmed this, and wow, am I glad we went to Disneyland instead of WDW! We had much better luck with Mobile Order and with Disney Genie+. It took me about a day to master it, but once I figured out how to maximize my use of it, it was definitely worth it for us.

Imagine going on your once in a lifetime trip to Magic Kingdom and you run into those crowds in Jan. I'm sorry but they are letting waaaay too many people in and are not using the reservation system like I hoped they would. So sad and I will not be going back anytime soon.

That's too bad you guys didn't have such a good day at MK. Seems so incredibly busy that even without Genie plus being an issue this day would have been too busy to do anything great. And your food being cold, sounds awful! But glad it tasted good at least. Thanks for sharing!

We were just at wdw last week and my niece lost her tooth. She's convinced that Tinkerbell is in charge of all tooth fairy duties at wdw and that she only leaves pins. Also thinks Tink is stronger than the normal tooth fairy because she almost fell out of bed that night.
