Some variations that I like to use:
I prefer a bowline to an 8 on a bite because the 8 can end up tightening itself to the point of being difficult to untie. A bowline will rarely over tighten.
For the trucker's hitch, an inline 8 will put less strain on the rope and create a directional loop.

I was just looking for tarp pitching knots, what great timing on your part! Thank you. Also the tautline hitch is a good one to know for guylines to ground stakes. Let me know when you guys want to do some recreational tree climbing in Ohio!

In July I'm heading into the back country alone for the first time and I only know 1 kind of knot so I was excited to see this video. I will be practicing these knots for sure. Thank you for a well made video I can follow along.

almost, but not quite a trucker's hitch. watch some other vids and you'll see.
and a bowline is a better way to put a loop on the end of a rope. (MUCH easier to untie)
bad advice in this video.

Thanks Andrew for the new knot video. I have referenced the 'old one' more than once and have used the Siberian hitch regularly over the past two camping seasons.
Always enjoy the side videos!

Three great knots. Thanks for the easy descriptions and, obviously, the visual instructions. I need to practice using some of these and other knots more frequently.

Overhand knots are good for camping, but with climbing, you want to use two fisherman's knots in the prussik, as overhand knots aren't secure enough for climbing

HI Andrew. Was there a reason you did a figure 8 knot for your trucker's hitch? Typically, a very simple slip knot is used? Nice use of the Prusik Knot!
