CUBA! Here's What Surprised Us Most: Safety, Food, Money, Cigars, Cars MrShovelhead68: We had the worst experience there, my wife got hurt the first night we were there an ambulance picked her up from our resort to take her to the hospital, we ended up having to take 5 different ambulances to 5 different hospitals no one new how to treat her and no one could speak English, the last hospital they took us to for the remainder of our trip had no running water for 12 hours out of the day, the food was disgusting, we gave the food to the starving cats outside the window, the medical equipment was seriously from the 60s with rust all over it, and the hospital we ended up at was 150 miles from our resort that we had family at thank god cause we never went back cause she was at the hospital the whole trip, they were not going to release her till they got there money from the medical insurance that I purchased before our trip thank god for that, so it took them for ever to get that sorted out pretty much at the last minute of the day we had to leave, so 10 days it was a night mare cause no one knew how to treat her, it was a Injury that kept growing like a massive blood blister the size of a football on her private parts, it was brutal, our first trip was awesome and for the toilet paper situation from our resort to Havana we stopped at some bathroom on the side of the road if you didn-t pay them a dollar they wouldn-t give you toilet paper, I don-t blame the doctors there, they are very well educated it-s there government that won-t invest into paying for up to date equipment, I loved my first trip and that-s why we went back but because of the medical situation I won-t got back it was by far the worst experience, even when we got home the doctors couldn-t believe what they seen and also didn-t know how to treat her and had all these different gynaecologist brought in cause they have never seen nothing like it, the only thing we could do is to let the body do it-s magic and let it explode which it did 2 days after getting home and let it heal itself, no stitches nothing

Type in ' Truth about Cuba' and you will find dozens if videos shiwing you the real Cuba, an apocaltotic wasteland. The couple in this video are trolling you. They were probably paid by Cuban government. This is a third world country with hardly any food, terrible medical facilities (I saw surgery being performed in a hospital & the roof was leaking like a waterfall. Most restaurants served terrible spaghetti & getting gas is a 1-2 hr wait. Grocery store has beans & rice & not much else. Undercover cops looking like tourists watch you like a hawk & don't want you shooting video. People are starving, they have poor health & the hotels & restaurants are 1 star at best. Why would anyone go there? I saw another video where American tourists asked a resident if everyone wanted to escape Cuba. He said 'yes'. How couldthere be fancy restaurants with great food & variety? Every one lives at poverty level. Neurological surgeons & doctors make less money the a coffee vendor. Therefore. there arent too many doctors in cuba. So- don't get sick in Cuba. If a resident catches a lobster, they go to prison. Only the govt elites get lobster. Cuba is a hell on earth. Why would you go there? I can get beans & rice right here in America. That & I can catch my own lobsters. Or have steak. And have plenty of toilet paper. This video- bs.

Really interesting the comment, from Nate, about the motivation to become a doctor, considering the really low pay.
While doctors are played pretty well in most developed countries, I think it's a uniquely American perspective that leads them to think that there is no motivation if there's not a big salary. Since everywhere else in the developed world has universal healthcare, the motivation is less money related and more vocational interest.
I'm absolutely sure Nate didn't actually mean it in the way I've described it, but that's such an American way of thinking about healthcare that I thought it was interesting.

As a person who is half Taiwanese half cuban with a mom who was born and raised in Cuba and then fled to Florida as a refugee, I have never and would never go to Cuba as a tourist or -fun- vacation. This is because I know that the tourist are seeing, experiencing, eating, buying things that the ppl who live and work in that country never will. It's not like any tourist goes to disneyworld, or Orlando and is experiencing stuff that isn't available to any U. S citizen. Its sad because these ppl have know idea about this.

I-m Cuban and I can tell you did an incredible job at actually learning more about my country & appreciating the culture! Yeah. Cuban sandwich. not a thing, and the Cuban pizza? It is a very particular one. Same with the cigars, if we get our hands on one they will probably be sold instead - Sadly the salary situation couldn-t be more accurate too! At least the CUC are not longer a circulating currency (as of Jan 2021) - I guess that-s some progress!

Saludos desde Filipinas Abajo la dictadura. Cuba es de todos y para todos. Ojala quede poco para poder regresar a esa Cuba libre que todos ansiamos. Im Cuban and I will say my country is beautiful and people are cool but we do have a Dictatorship. We Cubans need freedom. The revolution and the communist only give us poverty and no freedom to speak out of any problems. Cuba need the support of U all for ur freedom

Laws in Cuba are strange. Crime is low to almost not existant. If you kill a cow, you get more jail time than if you kill a human for example. Reason for that is a cow produces milk, that is needed to feed babies. Cubans value their children more than anything. Speeding in a cuban ferrari is impossibe, cus a horse and buggy doesnt go that fast anyway.

It clearly shows what the Internet is doing with our social interactions. How much more connected we were to each other before. I know it has many advantages but I feel we need better balance. I never felt more free in my life as when I was in Cuba and I think that is the main reason.

-It's amazing to me that anyone here in Cuba is still motivated to become a doctor-
It's amazing to me that you think lots of money is the only reason someone would be motivated to heal the sick and wounded, what a disconnect from the soul of what it is to be human.
