Journey through the Hoggar (Ahaggar) Mountains area in southern Algeria, showcasing the region's high-altitude desert landscape of dramatic volcanic and granite formations, jagged peaks, eroded basalt structures, and vast rocky plateaus. Locations featured in the video: Mount Ilamane is one of the most iconic and visually striking peaks in the Hoggar Mountains near Tamanrasset, southern Algeria. It is a prominent volcanic remnant in the Atakor massif. Assekrem (Assekrem Plateau) is arguably the most iconic and spiritually charged destination in the Hoggar Mountains. It is a high volcanic plateau and the ultimate highlight of any Sahara/Hoggar expedition. Guelta Afilal consists of natural rock pools that support rare permanent water in this arid environment, hosting unique flora and even small fishamong the last surviving fish species in the Sahara. The Archaeological Site of Tagmart Tan Afella is renowned for its ancient petroglyphs etched into the granite rocks. 0: 00 Mount Ilamane 2: 15 Road to Assekrem 3: 44 Assekrem 5: 15 Guelta Afilal 6: 08 Desert Camp with petroglyphs 7: 44 Archaeological Site Tagmart Tan Afella

Well I guess what once was and some of our ancestors left their drawings to tell of it with some of the wildlife that used to be but just barren land with barely even plant life now. Very interesting rock formations in some places though.

Very interesting video, Milosh. Looks like a planet out of Star Wars. The erosion characteristics are amazing, and so varied, yet. Uh huh. Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with a glimpse. -Rob

Once I studied a map of the Sahara Desert and saw very high mountains in its very heart. Since then, I wanted to see what it looks like. Incredible! How many hidden gems the Sahara bears!

Incredable filming! It is also soooooo nice to not have any narrations and only this music that worked very well with the landscapes. Thoroughly enjoyed this so much!

Those peaks on your thumbnail are fossilized trees!
Many mountains are such, especially mesas. Some have root systems that are miles wide.
