I wonder if the lead mine in Mount Isa could have anything to do with its high crime rate? As studies from the states showed a correlation between the ending of lead in paint, and a subsequent decrease in crime when the children growing up in those houses would become criminals. Although it was by far not the only cause. I would guess limited employment opportunities and the remoteness of the town plays a significant part too.

My wife and I once drove from Sydney to Cairns. It only took 8 days. We weren't in too much of a hurry as we were on our honeymoon and averaged 400km a day as I didn't want to drive at night and that's how far a tank of petrol in the Hiace campervan lasted. We wanted to drive for the same reason. To see our country close up an not skip over half of it on the way.

4: 14 Townsville is not remotely close to being halfway between Cairns and Brisbane, its the pseudo capital of North Queensland, its roughly 400km (250 miles) south of Cairns which puts it about 1/5th the way from Cairns to Brisbane. Cairns being 2000km (1250 miles) from Brisbane, Townsville being 1600km (1000 miles)

Big mistake, watching Noel's videos in ante meridiem. I get sucked in by Noel's video title, next thing I know I am late for work because I find it impossible to hit pause, to watch it later, after work.
Note to self: Don't click on these videos in the morning, unless it is the weekend or national holiday.

-1 for tubthumbing joke. Doesnt go anywhere near the centre of Australia. -1 for pronouncing bonus with a pommie accent. Tiny town? Toowoomba is the same size as Blackpool. Quilpi is not a tiny town, try going to YARAKA whose population doubles when the kids come home from boarding school Why no trip to Longreach?

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of drought and flooding rains,
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel sea,
Her beauty and her terror -
The wide brown land for me. - Dorothea MacKellar

A SAAB 340? Oh, good lord; we used to take those things flying from Rochester, NY to JFK. Just bearable for a 1 hour flight. The bathroom was so small, you'd have to drop your drawers before backing in to it! They used to call them the flying thermos bottle.

I can relate to this having worked many years ago as a FIFO worker in WA. The airline back then was MacRobertson Miller Airlines, 'MMA', affectionately known as Mickey Mouse Airlines. The aircraft used back then were Fokker Friendships, aka F27's.

I love thr sound of didgeridoo in your videos. I spent 6 months working with central Australian RFDS in Alice Springs. The flying and the landscape was absolutely breathtaking and surreal. It was spiritual and eerie at the same time. I really miss that.

absolutely fabulous video taking us with you on the ride. I love it how pro the flight attendant is, sounding enthusiastic every single time she welcomes the passengers to a new destination - and the fact that you included that in the account!

Some unnecessary facts. I come from the city (Linkoping) where the 340 was built at SAAB! I myself have been involved in the 80s and made details for the SAAB 340 in composite, which was a very new material then: )

I'll never understand people that flock like sheep to visit multi millionaire celebrity places where the famous don't even bother to be present. Visit and support your local mom and pap/family store

These are the kind of videos I enjoy the most unlike the first class or business class reviews. I think fact that I'll most likely never fly business/first class means I don't relate to those videos

REX Air trains their pilots on a Flightsafety Int. SF340 flight simulator at their training academy in Wagga Wagga. I use to help support the sim for several years till I recently retired.

737 max had design flaws on the engine placement. They made hundreds before it was found out. Landing risk increased. Current 737max were allowed to fly thou the design flaw not fixed.

Enjoy your videos and Europeans having no idea about Australias. Townsville is about 4-5 hours by car from Cairns, and another 15 hours to Brisbane by car. Nowhere near half way!
