The Most Annoying 15 Hours Ever: My Fiji Airways Flight sullim4: We just flew them yesterday, in economy from SYD to NAN and then in business from NAN to LAX.
I thought the economy flight was OK but there were some bizarre rules for exit row passengers. No wireless headphones or earpods for the entire flight - you're only allowed something that connects to their IFE. They made me wear my hat and they wouldn't let me sit it in my lap during takeoff and landing. Meal service for economy took the entire 3 hour flight.
Agree that the lounge in Nadi was great. The transit experience was seamless there.
Business - service was excellent. Sadly one passenger snored loud enough that it kept the entire rest of the cabin awake for the entire flight. Even with earplugs. We all were laughing about how bad it was. Not much Fiji Airways can do about that, though.

Assuming the 350 isnt playing music, this is actually pretty great!
Have family in Sydney and was thinking about going over one day, but AA from here in CLT is literally $15-20, 000 round trip, so was looking at all kinds of alternatives and never thought about Fiji (and of course AA dont show Fiji as an option despite them being cheaper and a oneworld partner.
With Fiji - CLT-SYD via SFO or LAX and NAN: $7, 000
In addition to saving $8, 000 to $13, 000 - with that stop at NAN, you can use your BAEC membership and get BAEC silver (the card folk here at the CLT admirals club hate me for) when you get home because of the bonus 40 tier points each way for NAN-SYD. Edit: that NAN-SYD flight is literally 23 miles off it being a 140 tier point flight

The scariest and worst flight I've ever had, was with Fiji Airways. It was a connection flight from Fiji to Brisbane. They had that cheerful music just playing in the background while the plane was falling from the sky. My butt literally lifted off the seat for a solid 15-20 seconds. I ended up getting severe vertigo from this flight which I've never had in any of my flights before and I flew for a living. They didn't even explain what happened or apologise.

It's nice to hear the flight attendants were as annoyed with the annoying and glitchy music system. One would hope that would impel a fix, but I suspect their comfort is less of a priority than paying passengers!
What a beautiful place that Fiji is. You almost wish they didn't have to pave over so much of it to make an airport. But I reckon that's the main way to get over to there!

Why are the customer service agents, boarding agents and check in staff at LAX so rude? I thought the US was famous for its OTT fake friendliness - they are giving you dirty looks, ignoring your thanks (no basic manners or social cues, then staring blankly in opposite direction. Not a great atmosphere to travel in my opinion.

Geez - a frequent flyer like you does not have noise cancelling headphones?
I flew the Fiji A350 Business class round trip LAX to NAD last August and there was no constant music playing.
Very comfortable plane and the food and service were very good.
Fiji reps at LAX and Nadi were super pleasant and helpful!

Noel, that's unfortunate that their intercom system was having issues and repeated that annoying music during the flight. On the plus side, that's an amazing aircraft I've yet to fly on. The service, food and overall product seems to be great. I don't believe you included the cost of the flight. I'm curious to know.

It is incredulous to me that the A-350 doesnt have a circuit breaker for the most annoying IFE that played for the entire flight. No link to Fiji Airways or Airbus in Toulouse to troubleshoot the IFE system? Come on. Something is rotten in Denmark!

Flew on Fiji airways from YVR to SYD on the A330 to Nadi and the A350 to SYD. The crew was absolutely amazing on both flights, the A330 was a bit older and needed some love, the A350 was amazing. Looking forward to flying Fiji airways again.

I love your seat on Fiji Airways! It looked so comfy and spacious! I know I would be having a wonderful time. :) I started laughing when that annoying music played AGAIN. ROFLOL! That would make me want to beat the pillow to death!

The airline was awesome I love the seat arrangements it looked very cosy and comfortable. I agree about the loud music was rather annoying but it felt great seeing the view when taking off and landing. The food looked good as well.

It's kinda crazy there's no way to control the volume of the speaker system. That at least might help a bit. It would've made me insane. I have to believe that at stressful times in life it just automatically kicks on in your head.
reply

why do you keep repeating yourself i think you said that you was on a FIJI AIRWAYS A350 about 70 times, you said at the beginning that you had never flown on an A350 so how can you keep saying that it is your favorite aircraft
reply

I would have flown like you with a stop of course OR (if it still exists, I'd flown via Kiritimati with them from Hawaii to Nadi so I could land on that island, since they are / were the only airline going there.

Based on your advertisements for buying a square meter of land in Scotland, I figured you weren't living in England, but Houston? Oh dear! Well I guess it's handy for flying around in airplanes.
reply

Noise cancelling headphones AND a white noise app playing soothing sounds cancels out annoying noise. I also load up a tablet with my own entertainment in case the airline's entertainment fails

+miketech79: . was compelled to laugh when Mr Philips said that the lounge was nice and quiet and from the other side of his mouth that a baby was crying, there.
It's called a Tell.

I flew from LA to Melbourne Australia business class in 1993 and I don't remember the airline but it doesn't matter because no airline had seats like this in 1993 I'm SO JEALOUS

After reading the title I thought that this airline wasnt my best choice to visit Fiji but after watching it I booked my flights to Suva via nadi with them

I think the Fiji Airways plan worked out pretty nicely! Is there a way to go direct from Houston to Sydney? I thought Qantas does it from Dallas.
