Very safe and polite airline. I have worked in PRC for a while on Z visas and if everything prepared well an easy place to work.
We chat is most common form of communication and they like to use for translation as well.
Flown them often and all airlines on PRC ok and smooth to travel except within China outposts
If you got a boarding pass they will not return you but could transit you but as you are changing airports then there maybe some delays but should be ok as long as you leave on the flight you stated.
Getting a z work visa incredibly difficult but oncee they know your status easy to get in and out.

What? Of course people buy and drink tomato juice - it's really nice, not sweet, and a wonderful drink in the morning as an alternative to sweet juices. not to mention it being the basis for the famous Bloody Mary! I am only part way through watching so let's see what happens next. Ah yes - you really need to practice with chopsticks. just a thought - you could probably do with a gimbal or something to help steady the handheld shots. they are a bit jittery. Surprised at your being able to record in immigration, but maybe they didn't notice. haha!

Re: blinding the windows. I have no clue as to why they do this. but they may do it to make sure your eyes kind of remain adapted to the darker inside of the cabin. This would then improve your vision in the darker cabin (compared to outside lighting levels) in case you need to evacuate the airplane after a rejected takeoff. Kind of a similar reasoning of dimming the cabin during a night takeoff/landing. But not sure, though. Would be interesting to get an answer to this.

I transited in Wuhan on 31st December 2019. The airport transit area was being renovated so they had me actually enter China and check in again for my onward flight. I expected the 1 day transit visa but the entry stamp was for 3 months. I had 7 hours in-between flights so took a taxi ride around the city to kill the time.
Airports in China are always extremely good in my experience.

Pre-pandemic you could enter China on a transit visa, issued on arrival, that could last several days depending on which airport you arrived at. It was positively promoted by the airlines and tourist agency. My kids used it when they did their North Korea trip, staying a couple of days in Beijing either side of the flights to and from Pyongyang. I think one of the stipulations was that you had to stay within the metropolitan area of your arrival airport though.

On the topic of Chinese airlines safety procedures, for very long time Chinese gov has been pushing for high safety standards on board thats why they even tell you off for using headphones at take off/ landing as well and opening windows and sitting up a hour before landing, it does seem extreme but if you look for how busy china air space is, it is quite remarkable that they have almost 0 crashes in recent history. In over a decade China had only 1 fatal crash.

19: 18 This man has good taste. Ya know, that film really caught me off guard when I first watched it. I just saw that it was highly rated and gave it a watch while knowing pretty much nothing about it. I was thrown through a loop when I saw the lack of cuts throughout the film. All of the other elements of a good film were there too, it really is quite an impressive film. If you haven't seen 1917 I highly recommend you give it a watch

I can feel you about the concerns for the 24h-Visa. I got re-rerouted once from FRA to ICN over PVG. On the way to PVG I could feel my body temperature going up, as I never thought about the Chinese Visa. But must say, it was easy to get the 24-hours transit visa, they were really helpful. By the way: the connection with China Eastern in Business class with an A330: absolutely great and fantastic flight product

Good video! KL is a decent airport. I've been to China a few times. I like it. What must be remembered is not all Westerners are interested in travelling around Asia. I guess it is a stereotype because you see white folk stand out at places like Thailand, Bali etc. I know a lot of Westerners who are not interested in Asia. It's not for everybody.

Native Chinese here living in the US I always wonder how confusing it would be for foreigners to travel or even transit through China. Literally everything is in Chinese and trapped in WeChat and you are most likely unable to use visa/Mastercard in most places (cash only via WeChat or Alipay app. Thanks for sharing your experience

My experience of China's 'Transit Visa' programme [ up to 96hrs, I think ], is that it only works if One stays within the region in which One arrives - if One plans to coss out of this region, to another, within China, then the 'Transit Visa' programme does not apply, and a full China-visa must be obtained in advance of travel.

11: 00 I'm thinking that if the SHTF, window dimming will be automatically turned off for full visibility.
My understanding is that why window shades are asked to be open whilst taking off or landing, is to give the cabin crew and ground emergency crews visibility out and into the cabin upon an emergency ground stop.

The issue for you at Shanghai is that foreigners (without a proper 30 day visa) can only transit through one airport before either leaving the country or staying in China (with a proper visa. Your itinerary showed two transits. You are lucky they let you board in Malaysia. Look it up online and you'll see what I mean.

Shanghai does have certain transit visas and temporary entey permits, yes. But other cities you're going through may not have as many hours as Shanghai, if they have any. Shanghai, it is 144 hours.
WeChat is a business/chat app used all over China. You absolutely should use it while in China.

What a rigmarole, i got stuck in Shenzhen airport for four hours, eventually they gave me a 24 hour visa all of this because of a diversion (thunderstorm. I could not wait for my flight the next day, a very bad experience. I will never book with any chinese carrier again.

Next trip, take time to do some Googling about the place you will visit to make it easier for you in that country even if you are just transiting. We Chat is a must in China. Also learn and memorize some common, necessary words, and in this trip Xie Xie or thank you: )

Shanghai Airlines is owned by China Eastern, pretty much like the relationship between scoot and Singapore airlines (but Shanghai airlines is not low-cost by any means, Anyway, as I was born in Shanghai, I am glad to see that you find Shanghai airlines good. Good trip!

Its interesting how we all have different expectations of China and some of them are quite negative but when we meet people and actually go there, we realise theyre just normal people too and they want the same things we do. Id fly Shanghai Airlines after watching this.

We chat is a way of life in China it's used to pay for most items, so much so that they usually just carry their phone and no cash, and pay on the bus, trains and taxis. Absolutely everything. The lady will have wanted it to see if they could get more business.
