video description
All in all, not great of late but at least they kept flying to Aus when Qantas abandoned Asia.

GBA is a new low-cost airline based in Hong Kong. It was established in 2010, renamed to Bauhinia Airlines in 2019 and then renamed to Greater Bay Airlines in 2020. It commence operations in 2022. Review says that the 738s are filthy and services are not good.
For Cathay Pacific situation, it uses to be nice when I was much younger. Now, it's just normal, like any other 4 star airlines. They don't have much money left in their pockets, so cut cost it is.
I would avoid flying with Cathay if I can
The narrow bodies are taken from Dragon Air(Cathay Dragon) which they shut it down during the pandemic.
Also Cathay have to broadcast their announcement in Cantonese, English and Mandarin at minimum due to it's geographic location.

Best lounge in HKIA is The Pier. Have the Dandan Noodles, a Cathay Delight and a glass of champagne and youre set. Although I agree, CX is unfortunately a very bad version of its former self Used to be amazing about 10 years ago but not there anymore despite their extremely high fares. Forced to fly them mostly because Ive been based in HKG and Macau lately but try to fly QR whenever possible to stay within oneworld Although I recently had an amazing flight from SIN to HKG which gives me hope that they be able to come back again.
And yes, they do have a tendency to have a ton of announcements which can be VERY annoying, especially when youre trying to watch a movie on the IFE system

Been watching a while and I've been thinking about this along the way. You have got to stop looking at the preview window of your camcorder and look straight at the lens otherwise when you record you are not looking at us but at the side all the time. The immersion of you talking to us is dead on arrival if you don't do that. Don't get me wrong, your content is great and entertaining but that part just need improvement. I don't want to sound like I am complaining, it is just constructive feedback.

We, as Hongkongers, know that Cathay has been overrated for years. We're just waiting till when tourists and foreigners will also catch up to the reality and ignore Skytrax rankings. In fact, in Hong Kong, Cathay's quality has been parodied, as a leading tabloid ran a headline a few years back which roughly translates to Cathay Pacific: The airline which slips in world's best airline rankings due to mismanagement, while Hongkongers mock it as Mismanagement Airlines

It doesn't matter what business you run or how big a business it is (and the Swire Group is big) but if you don't adapt, evolve and innovate, you'll get left behind. It is a real shame, I used to fly Cathay all the time and they were great. I appreciate that the industry has been through the most difficult time in its history but you still need to compete and it looks as though Cathay just haven't. Thanks for sharing.

You do realise that when you're boarded an aircraft or are transiting an airport, you are still subjected to that countries laws. You don't have to leave the airport for that countries laws to apply. Like if I was flying Emirates from Australia to Dubai, Dubai, the UAE laws apply the second to take step on that aircraft. So, technically you have already been to those countries by your logic.

A clean airplane is a good advertisement for any airline, your brand and logo are on it. Also it saves a lot of fuel. Too bad that Cathay doesn't realise this. In 2017 i had an amazing (economy) flight with them from Amsterdam - Hong Kong - Cebu and back which food looked same as you, only a bit less much. Better fly economy with them as they have plenty of legroom in economy.

They have Uber and might have been a cheaper option! Your schedule is insane. Sad to miss so much of the country. I have flown the same route on Cathay Pacific an dit was ok. It was in economy. the highlight was of course flying past Mt Fuji and seeing it quite close up from the air! It normally even peeks over the clouds so you might have seen it?

Seems like youre already expecting very bad things from the start thanks to your previous bad experience one time with the broken IFE back in 2006; well the IFE is working this time- you only can see what you want to see I dont personally think airlines like Emirates or Etihad have much better service either; no matter how 5 star theyve been rated.

With the exception of my first CX flight (AKL-HKG in J on a 343) where I found a dirty old pair of white socks in the footwell (removed by an FA with an appropriate ewww) I cant really fault them. At least their seats in J are comfortable unlike SQ, which until/unless they change, wild horses would not drag me back into.

What's absolutely hilarious is their reward points Asia miles. The conversation is absurd! If you redeem the Asia miles you barely save anything! I redeemed around 10000 Asia miles but was asked to pay the taxes which was half the amount of the regular fare! What's the point of having Asia miles

This has got to be one of the worst and most biased reviews from the start. Your tone clearly had it in for Cathay from the get go.
A classless and trash review but what can one expect from someone who mixes cola and red wine in Qatar First.

If you like airlines in China so much, you should just only take flights from mainland China from now on. Btw, there are 3 official languages in Hong Kong, thats why it seems they speak every language in the world in the announcements

24: 35 40 minutes when I had a flight to catch was a no brainer. It is amazing how people will do literally ANYTHING to make sure they don't miss their flight, even when the flight (and the next flight) is probaby cheaper than the taxi

To be fair, for CP this is a regional flight hence you get a diminished service. It's akin to comparing it with a European business class flying within Europe (or US airlines in the US, and it seemed to me infinitely better than those!

Super diamond elements on CX350? Please get your facts right and pay a bit more attention to detail of the seat design! You dont need to be this harsh in your review as well considering the extra amount of lockdowns faced in HKG.

I found this interesting as you seemed down on Cathay before you even started. You clearly don't like them, which is fine. I've personally never flown them and I would be indifferent about doing so unless I got a cheap flight.

The story of Cathay Pacific's [ inexorable ] decline, and the lurch of Hong-Kong into full-on 'Surveillance State' mode, are both not unrelated to the British handover of the territory on 01. 07. 1997 [ 26yrs ago, now ].
