I spend 24 hours camping with former Royal Marine Nick Goldsmith. Nick teaches some Bushcraft Skills and Survival Tips that he has tried and tested out in the field. We spend the night in a bivvy bag on the forest floor and Nick gives us a tour of his bushcraft camp and off grid cabin.

Nick that's a great rundown on the cabin and I love the idea behind it, very thoughtful and will help a lot of families I'm sure. Better than my place too! haha
Rest of the video is great. Nick is really good at explaining things in a way everyone understands. I'll be showing young family members this one, before I take them out.
Magnetic pole has moved a lot the last few years. It is indicative of the great cycle suspicious observers talk about. So these skills will probably be vital sooner or later.
I always have a first aid kit everywhere I go, with standard smaller stuff in, plus 2 israeli bandages (fully packaged for hygeine, but may unpack and stage 1 now, as hygenically as possible) and 2 tourniquets (both staged and a sharpie with each one to put time applied on them) and a leather belt always. Had blood loss and seen bad bleeds and not being in a position I can't help if/when I see another, maybe myself.
I think all this should be taught in school. Outdoor survival, first aid, foraging.
Cheers guys, good stuff!

I've made a spoon on a whim next to a campfire by burning out the bowl with a small ember of charcoal, blowing on it and causing the wood to char in a very localized area, then clearing it out with some sand and water as a paste, and then scraping the mess off with the tip of my daily carry SOG folder - while at an abandoned old Soviet airfield in Latvia, running a 100+ person LARP event with no facilities of any kind (the outhouse didn't even have a seat, until I made one out of some scrap lumber lying around.
You can do a lot more with a lot less, if you put your mind to it. I used the spoon to eat the local Army Veterans Association's field kitchen foods for the entire event. It's still knocking about somewhere.

Mike - this video has made me think that you should get into podcasting! Get survival guests on, like the chap in this video, it would be great to listen to and I am certain lot of people would be interested.

Oh I've wanted to see Nick on again for ages. Brilliant collab and I think I'm going to make my wife get me a course for my birthday next year. Want one of the hidden valley patches.
