I head to the coast alone for a 24 hour camping trip. On this solo adventure I do some fishing, setup my tent on a clifftop, watch an incredible sunset on the horizon and enjoy some chill time at the coast. You can't beat a solo camping trip. Being alone with nature, fishing on the wild ocean, hiking through forest, woods and up hills and clifftops. The sea is one of my favourite places to wild camp. In this episode I am wild camping in the south of the UK

I've lived in the same place my entire life, and have only traveled a couple of hundred miles away from here. Yes I have lead a sheltered life. I've never seen the ocean. ANY ocean. I've never been on a plane. My father taught me to fish, but only in streams and small lakes. Watching this video makes me realize how much I have missed out on. I want to see other shores. I want to see ANY shore. I want to spend a night, or even countless nights, in a tent on a shore far away from home because THAT is living. Thank you TA Outdoors for broadening my horizons. I only hope I can experience what you take for granted and can hold the same awe and wonder about it as you do, though to be honest if I ever experience it first hand I will surely hold it in much higher regard than you. But isn't that the way of things?

We live on the south coast and one guarantee no matter where I've walked is there'll always be people nearby. Or if it looks like there aren't, give it 5 minutes. It must take some careful timing to not show all the dog walkers in every shot - particularly if there's any suggestion of a public path. Setting up and sleeping in a tent without dogs coming round to sniff everything and people asking you what you're doing? No kids shouting look someone's in a tent all evening? You actually found an accessible beach in Dorset on a summer day without other people? Same even for your more recent Lake District videos. Really enjoying all your videos but amazed how you can make it look like we live in a vast low-population outdoors like Canada rather than a very busy little island, particularly down south.

Great stuff. Whenever you drop a new video I know it's going to mean I have something good to watch. I'd love to see you team up with Joe Robinet some time and do an epic lake/fishing adventure together showing the UK vs CAN angle on things. This one made me laugh though when you were going through your fishing tackle and showed your nice neat box of weights and lures. I had just got done watching your Dad's overnight fishing video and he was throwing pliers, door bolts, padlocks, all kinds of rusty iron into the water to use as weights: ) Look forward to the next one now.

Hey mike love the videos. I was hoping to get some help from someone on locating wild camping areas, i have done a bit solo close to home in Yorkshire and have got comfortable. Now I feel the urge to go further afield to the coast for some fishing. I get little apprehensive though due to still being fairly new to it and not really knowing many camping laws wild camping and when and where i can and can't go/pitchup. would there be some way to find more info out prehand? thanks again mike for all the work you and your dad put into TAoutdoors/TAfishing.

I don't know if you have a dehydrator or not but I have a southwest Mexican rice recipe. You will need to hear about 4 tbl sp of olive oil and stir in two chicken bouillon cubes. The stir In two cups of rice and let it absorb the oil. About 3 min of that. Then add 2cups water an a 8oz can of stewed tomatoes. Stir and let it get thick. And then dehydrate if you can. Makes quite a few servings. You can also add jalapenos if you like it spicy. I would mince a couple of them and add while cooking the rice. Enjoy.

Loved it, great video Mike. Ever wonder sometime how things just synchronize? I went out today fishing for the first timein 45 years. Purchased a cheap pole and rod and some dollar store lures and plastic. Lost a few lures with snags, but the worst thing was the weeds. Then I watch a TA outdoors video and boom you supply a solution. Love it Whats next, your dad will show me some really neat bush craft tip? You guys do great entertaining video's. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Just a humble suggestion. I personally really like the review of the beers at the end of each video. It's a kind of calling card of sorts, something that sets you apart. Reviewing a couple cold ones after some hard work and living off the land makes the videos that much more enjoyable. I suggest an honest review of three separate beers at the end of each video. Just my humble suggestion. Love the videos. CHEERS

Ahhh I love Jean Craighead George You might also like Julie of the Wolves. That's the nice thing about adolescent literature is it reads quick, as you said. You might also like Hatchet by Gary Paulson if you haven't already read it. There is a sequel, Brian's Winter, which I have not read yet. It's about a kid who survives a plane wreck in Alaska and survives on his own until he is rescued.

Ive always enjoyed your videos and especially this one. Ive yet to figure out a way to limit my gear because I want to accomplished so many things on my solo camping trip. But of coarse when I bring my 2 dogs with me along with my kayak it adds up quick as you very well know but I need to pick up a couple of different back packs to set up my gear differently.

Another great, Mike Love the videography Regarding the brew - do you pack milk? Or powdered milk? Or are you a green tea kind of guy? It's often a pain to prep for this for me so I get (prepare yourself) PG instant. Powdered tea + milk. Not the real deal, but man it's not a bad cup of tea: -)It's just so expensive here in the US. Have to get it shipped fml
