We build a primitive hut using sticks and straw for my 1 year old daughter. Now that we have finished building the tiny pallet cabin for her, we look to expand the mini village and build her a more primitive structure using various bushcraft skills and woodworking techniques. In the first part of this build we build a the mini celtic style roundhouse using simple hand tools. Stay tuned for part 2 soon!

Ram a small pole/stick into the ground and tie an aluminum pie pan to the pole to where it can blow around in the wind the sound of the pan hitting the pole, plus the glint of the light off the aluminum, will keep away birds that are after your fish (or crops)

Pretty sure this is just your dad's way of not being caught doing nothing in the shed by your mum, Mike. He'll be in that little house, playing tapes of the sounds of him working/sawing/hammering, just to make her think he's still busy; 0)

Check out BamaBass and how they dealt with the heron at their pond by installing a motion sensitive water sprinkler/jet that would spray the heron when ever it tried to land near their pond.

I see the visit to the hospital was successful as Dad regained his missing finger. Poor old Fred, being used as a landing stage by Mrs Heron, no wonder his boots came adrift.

Am I the only one who noticed that his dad's knife that's made in Germany looks an awful lot like a certain youth group knife from around the 1940's

I like how you're still pretending this is for your daughter.
I know you will both be sitting in the tiny hut drinking tea and giggling.
