Minneapolis: Visiting George Floyd Autonomous Zone, Downtown & St Paul I can appreciate your tourism videos. It’s unfortunate that with this one you missed so much about the area. As noted you missed in the downtown area the incredible music scene that is known as the Minneapolis sound. First Ave. and seventh Street entry the iconic walls that surround it. As well as the Schmidt music wall downtown which has an incredible history of Minneapolis. Also there are venues on either side of the river there. I noticed you were standing on the bridge looking at the river had you crossed over into Northeast Minneapolis you would’ve noted the Nye’s restaurant and music venue. Which has since been downsides but it’s still an institution in the area. The plethora of incredible bistros and eateries as Minneapolis is absolutely a foodie town. Also knowing that one of the truly greatest artists of our times came from Minnesota that being Prince Rogers Nelson. Paisley Park Museum, And the many iconic locations that surround the city and suburban areas that were elevated by the musical genius and putting Minneapolis on the map. Also the city of Lakes, meaning the beautiful chain of lakes that are in the uptown area, another area that unfortunately you were not able to see. Had you been near Lake of the Isles you could’ve actually seen where the actual Mary Tyler Moore house was. Also in that area is a native indigenous owned bookstore by the incredible author Louise Erdrich. As well as the incredible arts institutions such as the walker Arts Center and sculpture garden near Loring Park. Which boast one of the largest pride festivals in the country. Also the incredible mural artists throughout the city and historic theaters in the downtown area. There’s an incredible diverse cultural gathering. And I happen to be a girl who’s from Minneapolis. And I am the marrying kind, just ask my husband. Looking forward to your return trip to the area with a broader lens.

I like most of your videos but this 1 missed the mark. Minneapolis is the city that the greatest musician of the last century was home to and his name is PRINCE! The iconic movie Purple Rain was shot in downtown Minneapolis and at the world renowned famous club FIRST AVENUE! Prince’s famous state of the art recording studio named PAISLEYPARK which is now also a museum is about 20 minutes from downtown in Chanhassen, MN. The next time you go to Minneapolis visit those 2 venues because the video is incomplete without a mention of Prince Rogers Nelson and the story of the Minneapolis sound that was a musical force and influence on the 1980’s sound in Pop and R&B music culture worldwide!

I'm a transplant from Chicago but have lived here 25 years. It is gorgeous outside 7 months a year. Spectacular summer weather but the winters are BRUTAL. Lots of parks and lakes and a wide variety of things to do. Crime in the cities is up in the last two years, especially car jacking. Homeless population is low probably because of the tough winters. I've lived in Chicago and Manhattan and traveled a lot. Other than the winter weather I think Mpls is a top place to live. And you did pronounce Nicollet and Hennepin correctly.

The black part of our society will have a difficult time in seeing changes in. black ownership, unless they successfully achieve 100%. The percentage of black population has been reported at 13% since 1973, until currently it is reported at 10. 8%, Margaret Sanger is probably celebrating. As more of the younger generations continue to mix and have children the newer generations will have different perspectives when they determine what their dreams will be. Lovely work you are both doing, really enjoy it.

Dude you better check your GPS, biden bragged that he sent Mnpls like a 100 billion dollars to rebuild this area. Black Lives Matter raised over a billion for this area. What you video recorded looked like a crack neighborhood, not a rebuilt area. We all noticed you did not even get out of your car and walk around there. This is the title of your video, what gives

Minneapolis has some beautiful buildings. I worked in the Forshay, Lumber Exchange, Pillbury and Piper Jaffry. Loved working downtown for a bit.
I live in a northwest suburb of Minneapolis. I love living down here. I’m from Northern Minnesota. Nice to be out of the city but close to airport or theater or arts.
Thank you for visiting us.

Couple of other things you missed in St. Paull. The capitol building is gorgeous. Nearby that is the gun from the USS Ward, the Destroyer that shot and sank a mini sub trying to sneak into Pearl Harbor, just a few hours before the attack. I'd also suggest looking at Duluth, MN if you ever get back up to Minnesota. Thanks for sharing!

St Paul seems to honor Charles Schulz more. This city used to have several dozens of Snoopy statues all over the city back in the late 1990s into the 2000s. Glad you saw the new bronze ones in Rice Park. The Mall of America's amusement park used to be called Camp Snoopy, today it's Nickelodeon Universe. We pronounce Nicollet as nick-lit.

I’m from St Paul. There are Peanuts sculptures everywhere honoring Charles Shultz. People often venture across the city to get a picture with each one. Every sculpture is painted different and each has its own unique artist that painted them. You missed soooo many great spots in St Paul. Kinda disappointed.

That waterfall looked really beautiful! When you were in St. Paul I swear I thought I saw the Ecolab building but I'm not sure. I used to work for Ecolab and their corporate headquarters are in St. Paul. I talked to them every day out there and the people actually were Minnesota Nice!

Milwaukee isn't dying. Your description was correct. I've lived in this area most of my life. It's got its problems but what's the benefit to us if the area booms Unaffordable housing
I just accept it for what it is. No delusions of grandeur.

I still live in Minnesota, but can not wait to leave this crap hole. Very long cold winters, and soon it will be crowded with illegals living on charity and it means taxes will increase even more. Taxes is one of the highest in the US.

1: 50 St. Paul skyline looks much more impressive than Minneapolis. Also, I wonder what city is the skyline in the far distance background It must be a big city to be seen from so far. A perfect shot!

You miss the Sculpture Garden and Art Center near downtown Minneapolis. Hopefully, you will go up north more in the future. Duluth is a great city to visit. Then go 4 hours to the border of Canada.

One error: there haven't been numerous murders at 38th & Chicago since George Floyd's killing. There have been some murders in the neighborhood. The memorial issue has not been solved yet.

BLM: Stop The Violence!
Also BLM: .Or we riot!
Also BLM: .We know nothing about any black on black violence.
It's hard to take any movement so at odds with itself seriously.

You won’t see anything about Schultz in Mpls because he’s a white male. If he were anything else there’d be murals/community centers/parks with his name. Just how Mpls is.

Both of the twin cities looks very beautiful especially St Paul I was quite puzzled why there wasn't more people on the streets it seemed strange!
reply

Fun fact about Charles Schultz, he actually lived in my home city of Colorado Springs and drew his first sketch of snoopy on his daughters wall!
reply

You didn't stay long enough to see how Rude and Crappy people are to each other there. The number one reason I moved out of state 8 years ago.
reply

There’s snoopy character statues all over Saint Paul. As a kid, my daycare took field trips to find as many Lucy statues as we could.
reply

Sorry, not interested in anything to do with an ex-convict Black person that resisted police then paid the price.
Good riddance.

A lot of downtown MSP is up in the skywalk level because of the horrible winters.
Lots more Peanuts and Schultz stuff in St. Paul.

George Floyd was a career criminal, who died of a fentanyl overdose. He was not murdered. It even says that in his corneal report.
reply

The city has 5 professional sports leagues, 6 if you count WNBA and that George Floyd Autonomous Zone is such a weird concept.
reply

Why didn't you comment on the lack of people downtown or give us the crime and poverty statistics Very unusual for you Joe.
reply

reply

It’s amazing how many people live in the metro area. It’s in Minnesota one of the snowiest and coldest states in the US.
reply

This area brought it on it's self. Keep George in your clueless minds. Just the kind of figure you want to be your lead!
reply

I always wanted to fly into Minneapolis in January, when it's cold. I didn't know it's such a huge city.
