You passed so close to Truckee, which reminds me, why NOT do a vid of a drive from Truckee's downtown, catch the 89 once again, to go all the way into Lassen Volcanic National Park, and if you're extra ambitious, go past Burney, and power your way to the foot of Mount Shasta, in downtown Mount Shasta City, just off of I-5.
Seems here, that you passed by the filming site for the Corleone Homestead around Tahoe Pines in the "Godfather" series, although in those movies, that estate was supposed to be situated between Crystal Bay and Incline. What a pretty place to send bad brother Fredo, from Michael's standpoint, to go sleep with the Kokanee and Dolly Vardens!
Seriously, I'm beginning to think of Lake Tahoe as a tiny ocean. It's so big and DEEP, that it generates its own surf & currents, and modifies the weather, just as an ocean would. In the 19th century, there used to be steamboat ferry service, when stage, small freight, and single horseback wasn't efficient for rapidly traversing the lake sites. Then cars came along, and quickly supplanted the ferries.

So beautiful. I love to cruise on the highways for hours, listen to good music and just relax! Can't wait to be back there!

Watching this video because gas is too expensive to drive around the lake myself.
