Dixie starts the Hundred-Mile Wilderness. Pedestrian: I'm so glad I happened upon and began following your trail reports, Dixie! Love your strength, drive, determination and positive attitude! Alabama-strong, similar to Jennifer Pharr Davis who also attended college in the great State of Alabama, the true southern terminus of the Appalachian Mountains. AT fans shouldn't miss beautiful Little River Canyon, Desoto Falls, Bucks Pocket, Cheaha Mountain, Flagg Mountain and more. Benton Mackaye envisioned the trail ending somewhere over here near Birmingham. Looking forward to the next update (summit report) but with concern because of the Katahdin weather reports I've seen in the last week. So dad gum cold! Wish I could send you some toasty toes and hand warmers and thermacare heat wraps. Thanks for the vicarious experience!

do not get me wrong here. you are looking hot 2k miles in. I have a super great wife that I love very very muchly.
I say you are looking hot as that the great outdoors brings out the beauty that nature, God, what ever or who ever gave you.
(ok my PC crap is done. The point is that the natural world is full of beauty and the man made cemical soaps and such are not always the best. I noticed on my long hikes that my skin cleared, and my hair was in better health.
The woods do a body good. Glad you made it.

I've watched you from the beginning - like others, kinda sad to see it come to an end. You are truly an inspiration - your determination, unflagging spirit, tears - all make you a wonderful example to all. I hope when you get home, you'll offer us a video or two of your perspectives looking back on your incredible adventure. All the best!

I have followed your entire journey. Congratulations to both you and Whitney for a great video journal. We know Rigga made it and if you have not lost touch with your original group, I'd like to know how they've all done. We have not seen Rebel Yell or Mountain Goat or the rest of the old group in a while. Hopefully they all made it.

Well done Yong adventurer. I've followed you from the beginning of your expedition. hope all has gone well on the last leg of your journey. I my self completed the PCT in 2008 and I was in the same emotional state on my last five miles. I wish you well and thank you for the time and effort put forth sharing your adventures.

Go Dixie, Go! I must say, I have followed about six hikers this year through their journals/videos and yours has been the absolute best. No constant complaining, discussions of bowel movements, or repetitive information (and you are cute too): ) Can't wait to watch you summit. Good Luck!

Why wouldnt you take your shoes off to cross that river? Maybe wear your camp shoes or something. Or barefoot, crocks or something that is capable of staying on your feet but wont retain moisture. Im only asking because I am learning. Not because im saying your doing it wrong.

Wow, that 2, 100 mile moment was very touching. What an accomplishment, and now I am watching your progress on the PCT. You blogs are very inspirational, and with the 'Help of Heaven', I hope to go NOBO on the AT around Mar / Apr 2019.
