it is not my intention to be disrespectful, but when you say you feel embarrased of not speaking any other language you are totally right, because it is just so unpractical! (and because the World does not end outside of Alabama) But you can be at ease, that is not just a problem from the US, I also know this mono-linguism from places like Australia and Latin America. but that said, it is still very unpractical. And in the case of the US, with such a huge spanish speaking community and with Mexico and Quebec just across the border, quite a bizarre state of things. I guess all americans should at least have some basic command of spanish. In Switzerland where I live now, there are 4 national languages, plus all the local dialects, everyone is at least bilingual, and most speak 3 languages or more (by now I speak 6) This enriches your experiences so much more! I think you did the right thing walking the Camino, I am sure you learned a lot, and it was fun to watch, I might do it once myself.

If I had to do the Camino de Santiago or a similar distance, I would take a Xero shoes, Luna Sandals, a snugpak jungle sleeping bag, an OMM or Outdoor Reserch jacket and a backpack of no more than 25 liters capacity, two shorts, two shirts and nothing else. Everything else is left over and you buy what you need wherever you are. Thanks for the video and take care. I follow you for the next adventure.

I'm fascinated by your journey, an amazing experience, some pilgrims look for their inner peace after a relative has died, some pilgrims look for an answer or meaning to their existence but for me it's the sense of adventure, the unknown awaiting me everyday day i open my eyes, well done, I have enjoyed your video having a nice glass of Spanish wine. Saludos desde el Sur de Inglaterra. Gracias

Hello Homemade. Your video shows very well how the way is. Beautiful places, good food and drink, diverse friendships and some pain. I did this way in Sep / Oct / 2015 and I can't wait to do it again. Buen Camino and thanks for sharing your adventure.

I stayed at a nice hotel in Germany and I didn't know that about the card and the lights. Needless to say four star hotel in the dark woohoo!
And 51: 59. Now that is funny! Good impersonation!
