How To Take A Teen Hiking (AL High Point Included) orange: I plan on doing a threw hike with my 3 Sons in the spring of 2024. The reason for the wait is I will be retired. I will be 50 and My boys will be 18-14-11. They all wrestle year long, do swim team in summer, and cross country in fall. My question is do you think they're too young. Truth be told it's probably more for me as my oldest son will be an adult. Any thing you would suggest? Thank you

Nice! I just brought my oldest boys ages 12 and 11 on their first hike last weekend; Huckleberry Point in the Catskills in NY. Granted two guides I read said it would be 3. 5 miles RT (which I thought would be perfect). ended up being ACTUALLY almost 5 miles. but still not bad. My oldest loved it and wants to go again ASAP.

I was just there June 20th-23rd. I hiked down the Pinhoti to Adam's Gap, looped around on the Skyway trail and came back up the Pinhoti. Round trip was 30 miles 2300 ft. down to 800ft. and then back up to 2300ft. Very beautiful area and a really challenging hike. The elevation gain about killed me but I made it.

You are just an awesome sister. You make hiking look more fun than I even know it is. I hike Providence Canyon a few years back and it was pretty fun. I am definitely going to check out Cheetah SP. Thanks for another entertaining video.

Great vid. Well done to your li'l sis for her 1st high point and getting outdoors. Well done, and thank you, to you for getting your li'l sis outdoors, teaching / coaching / mentoring her and equipping her with real life skills.

I'm a Girl Scout troop leader of kindergarten and 1st grade girls. We have a hike planned in a few weeks and I never even considered taking water filters and cooking equipment. What a great idea! They'll love it!

My Dad took me to hike Mt. Washington when I was 14, then Lafayette and Lincoln shortly after. Ever since then I've been obsessed with hiking! Hopefully my future children (if I have any, will be the same way.

That cooking stove on the table so close to where she's sitting made me cringe in the event it would tip and the hot contents not mention the stove it self would land on her legs. Not a good idea for sure.

Someday Montana will look back upon that first hiking day with a nostalgic smile. She is maybe still too teen-ish yet to appreciate what will undoubtedly be a lifelong memory with her big sis

Just wanted to add. I'm a huge fan of yours. I'm gonna be starting my AT hike in the spring of 2019 and I've found your videos to be a wonderful source of information. Thanks for all you do
