Way back in the dark ages of 1977 my two friends and I backpacked in Yosemite from Yosemite Valley - Sunrise Creek - Cloud Rest. Got chased by a mama bear and her two cubs after they raided our camp. Got batted around a bit later that night, but such a great send off before going into the Navy for the next 4 years. Keep hiking and sharing Dixie!

amazing all the time in planning an endeavor like a thru hike where you will without a doubt encounter water crossings and not one person has any idea how to do it safely alone or in a group. at least if someone drowned they would have it on tape and a story to tell.

Yosemite has got to be one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Never been there, but looking forward to it when I do the PCT in 2020, after I do the AT in 2019 (thanks to your videos. I'll be feeling bad when I get to the last video, for sure.

Maybe first person across that huge river should take a rope across, while others hang ona, nd tie it on a tree on otherside and then throw back so other side for everyone to ise as a line to protect them from sailing away.

Did you consider a line between trees with a caribiner. Attach a second rope to it and the pack and just pull them over so as to stay dry? Or would that be too much work?

you could have been in real trouble without that guy to catch you. I'd think that removal of the pack, let it float behind you on a cord would have been a bit safer?

water sandals are well worth their half lb of weight. People are jerks about broken glass and even a rock can badly slash your foot, ruining a thru hike.
