Julie, you have seen more of California then most Californian's have. And at the the best parts of California. People live their lives in Fresno, just an hour drive from Yosemite, without ever going there. You my friend, experienced life at it's best, have seen with your own eyes, the majesty surrounding us, that very few have seen first hand. Perhaps next PCT hike, go later in summer, early fall in a lower snow fall year, as to minimize hiking in it or wading through deep, cold, streams.

As a veteran expedition bicycle tourer I think it is safe to say that thru hikers aren't the only ones to have the occasional accident. An advantage the thru hikers have though is that they are already someone isolated. Expedition cyclists, on the other hand, are often on roads with vehicles buzzing by while frantically looking for a patch of cover! ;)

Isn't there a way to put plastic inside your shoes your feet don't get wet all the time crossing rivers, in the snow, etc? My Mom used to save the plastic bags from wonder bread and put them over our socks before putting on boots in the winter time.

Dixie, you sure have come a long way from Amicolola Falls on the AT. As far as confidence and in your videos as well.
I am curious what happens if you don't have a permit when the Ranger is checking for them? Does the Ranger sell them?

Regarding your future children. Here's a tip: I took each of my children, separately, on expedition bicycle trips lasting a couple of months each when they were aged 15. Now they have their own stories and don't have to listen to mine. ;)

Great to see you introducing an Aussie to s'mores! As an American living in Australia, I was surprised to learn that many people here have never heard of them.

Just out of curiosity do you ever feel naked when you are back home and going for a walk or shopping without a back pack?
