How Not To Be A Jerk On Trail Hulk: People don't care about other people, especially when were talking about the proverbial they. Don't expect people to clean up after themselves or be courteous. That being said I've always said the best sermon is a good example, so walk the walk and keep a good attitude, and that's the best way to mold other's actions and help them understand the courtesies in any situation.

I live in Robbinsville NC, the AT comes threw our town and I have picked up many hikers to take them to town or to the next trail head or where ever they want to go. What can I do to be a better trail angle I love the idea of making hikers smile and making there day brighter. What sorts of things would you love to come across on the trail?

Great advice! I learned a few things. I've never done major hikes, but now i know some better etiquette. Also, a few of those i wish people would do in the normal world! I HATE going somewhere, and a person is talking on their phone LOUDLY and on speaker. Or blasting music through it.

Cooter Brown Love it! Lol! I am a fellow southerner sis, SE KY born and bred! Most people won't get that metaphor, but I do. Love the Mtns! Can't do the Through hikes due to combat wounds to me legs and feet but I love section hiking and camping. (Scar tissue inflames too much)

I've only had a couple times where youngsters wanted to rave in remote areas.
If talking doesn't work I do whatever is necessary.
Including crushing their Bluetooth speaker with a 40 lb rock.
Then I gave them a 100.
Park rangers thought it was hilarious.

I went on a small hike in to get my kids in to backpacking. One bear box in a secluded 10 space campsite. It was full of decomposing food and waste. Just nasty. Had I not been carrying my youngest daughter's stuff, I would have hauled part of it out myself.

As far as the snoring is concerned one thing I always bring camping/hiking/backpacking is a pair of earplugs. Them crickets and cicadas can get pretty damn loud at night as well, and they don't weigh nothing.

Hang on, have I been peeing wrong this whole time? lol. I just squat so I don't think I'd ever accidentally sit in someone's pee. I'm genuinely curious guys lol please tell me if I'm missing something.

Help me understand. Why on earth would you want to hike a trail so choked full of people that you have to worry about snoring too loud at night? Just walk across the city you live in. Save gas money.
