Ways I Try to Eat Healthier Backpacking Ella: Must be nice having your mama there to send you resupply boxes.
And, let's see, just how many injuries/illnesses have you had on trail?
1. Achilles tendon
2. Food poisoning
3. Ingrown toenails
4. Infected wisdom tooth
5. Big gnarly blisters
6. plantar fasciitis
7. Loss of toenails
Shall I continue. I'm sure there's more.
I'm almost ashamed, being a fellow Alabamian and Auburn fan, almost. But, I'm a brunette. ( Insert blonde joke here) So, you have a wonderful excuse.
Enjoy you next hiking trip! Maybe I shouldn't have said trip.

I and any other ex-military who has spent any time in the field will vouch for the baby food, specifically for fruit. The MRE supplies all your necessary nutrients, but barely. We had to wait for the chow trucks to get real fruits and vegetables. The baby food filled the gap. Good advice.

It's the B vitamins and micromineral deficit I wonder about. I imagine people are not getting fat but are adding uracils to the genome (which will eventually give you a cancer. Plus, are you really not getting skinny fat on the hydrogenated oils?

I like the babyfood fruit pouches a lot and use them like jam on tortilla or a bagel. I also pack green drink powders and mix them with unsweetened instant oatmeal for a drinkable breakfast (just make sure to mix it in a wide mouth bottle)

Pepitas are sugarfree, high in fats and protein. Also hemp hearts. I make a trail mix with pepitas, hemp hearts, pecans, coconut flakes (no sugar added, and sugarfree chocolate pieces (Lilly's is sweetened with stevia, and macadamias

The nice thing with tuna in oil is that you can heat it up in the tin: open the can, place a tissue on it and let it soak up the oil, light up, after a few minutes extinguish and enjoy warm tuna.

Natural peanut butters are really good for you: rich in healthy fats and proteins and taste better than the processed stuff: ) or if you need it sweet honey is a good sweetener

You look like you need a wad of 'chew in your cheek to go with that accent. I'm sure you get plenty of protein from the other male hikers on that trail.
