Hi Dixie. I'm thrilled to hear you are gonna walk the camino with your sister. My wife worked with a retired teacher who did the northern camino with her husband in three stages. This woman also spoke fluent Spanish and that helped alot. They were addicted to the experience to say the least. Now they are doing the Portuguese camino. My wife is 100% Portuguese and we have brielfy discussed this. We are in our mid 60s as are the folks I mentioned. Very much looking forward to your videos on the camino. I hope it is moving for you.

Very excited that you're going internationally. Shikoku 88 in Japan could be another interesting option, it's around 1200km long and you visit 88 temples on the Island of Shikoku.
I also hope you're going bike touring at some point like you talked about, somewhere in Europe would be perfect for that, there are so many amazing routes.
There's a tiny chance that I'll run into you on the camino, if you're choosing the Camino Frances, I'll start around the 20th of August (+/- 3 days. Buen camino!

I did both Caminos the Francese and the Norte as well the Primitivo. For a first Camino i may suggest the Francese with a change to the Primitvo at Leon. I loved the first week of the Norte from Irun to Bilbao. After Bilbao and after evry major city on the Norte the Camino becomes less and less pleasent. But no matter wich route you take make sure you finish it with the Camino Primitivo!

Are any of the Spanish trails part of the International Appalachian? Geographically there are European mts that are said to have been part of a mega chain back 250 million years when the continents were connected and there are stretches of trail in many European countries that are part of what is known as the International Appalachian Trails.

You've inspired me to give hiking a try. I'm planning to do the Costwold Way (102miles) which is my home corner of the UK. If that goes well I'm going to prepare for Land's End, Cornwall to John o' Groats, Scotland (1200 miles. Keep up the fantastic work, Dixie!

My wife and I did the Norte last year and some of the French. I would choose the Norte hands down. There are so many other people hiking the French route that it lessened the experience. All the culture and stuff is all over the Norte too.
