My Favorite Backpacking Desserts nyggendk: Hi Dixie, thanks for all your videos, this one gave me the munchies: )
I don't know if I'm the only one, but I would be very interested in a special about watercrossings.
I'm contemplating the PCT in 2021, the year I supposedly turn 50, ugh. The thing is, I never learned to swim, in fact I tend to freak out when I get my head underwater.
So, in short, I'm trying to find out how viable it is for me, to hike the PCT. Maybe go around the hardest fords, or time it right with regards to melt off? Love to hear your thoughts.

Hi Dixie! We dehydrate alot of our meals. My wife came up with a breakfast, or dessert, that she calls Breakfast Porridge. She prepares couscous and then adds fruit pie filling. I've only had this hot/warm so I don't knowhow it tastes, or rehydrates cold. Favorite commercial dessert is Jello No Bake Cherry Cheesecake. We had this with our mid-point meal of spaghetti w/ meat sauce, peas and garlic bread on a 10 day canoe trip in BC, Canada. 12 people, 10 days less than 10 lbs per day. Love your videos.

There have been a lot of trolls attacking hikers who vlog. Even Backpacker magazine was questioned about the legitimacy an article on a 9 year old triple crowner in a issue. I have a few questions for you. Who sets the rules on what contittutes a through hike? Is it a different entity for each trail? How do you personally deal with trolls? I would love to see you do a video on that. I was going to take on a trail or a section and You Tube it, but the trolls have really discouraged me.

Reminds me of one of the favorite number one desserts I make from scratch. Banana pudding, folded with homemade whipped topping, Nilla wafers layered one layer on the bottom, a second layer in the middle and heavily crumbled on the top. Then topped with more homemade whipped topping when serving. It is a delightful dream! Next time I might make it with oreo cookies instead, just for a twist.

Unfortunately, I'm allergic to coconut, and several of these have coconut, including the banana puddin' Not sure why it needs to be in there other than to add some texture or carbs or fiber or something. Not sure if the coconut is in a separate pouch like some of the toppings. Thanks for the video. Good review for the rest of the gang to try on our next trip.

What's with all the people calling it Pocket Gourmet?
It is PACKIT Gourmet. They are in Texas, and they are great! Everything from pre-packaged meals to pantry items for making your own. I have been ordering from them for many years, and have had no complaints. Their fryin pan breads/scones are especially delicious for backcountry trips.

Creme brulee by backpacker's pantry is amazing! I would even eat it off trail. Uses cold water, does require vigorous stirring for two minutes or something like that, and comes with delicious crunchy sugar topping. Highly recommend this dessert.

i thought it said deserts. that sounded really cool. pun intended. high plains desert kind of places not just the sand ones. i don't care for those kinds of sweet foods. apples, blueberries, clementines are more my speed for sweets.
