I was really shocked about the cost of your travel insurance. 450 dollars for 2 people 2 months. That's serious money. I pay for my worldwide travel insurance (valid all year and every country for a continues stay up to 60 days) 85 dollars a year but this also includes my worldwide liability insurance.
But anyways. It is what it is and having travel insurance when going abroad is a smart thing to do indeed. Have fun out there.
Never heard of any of these movies you are talking about but do know about the trails. Might try to find them and watch them.

Scenery wise its the PCT, architecturally is nothing like you've encountered, culturally it is a bit like Bama and Miss circa 1970, culinary is where you have to take advantage. Enjoy, do not turn away a glass of wine at supper (16 is legal drinking age) and stop for tapas at every major town you come to. trust me. try their specialty. But in the end, always remember you are an American and there is a major FOREIGN influence in Spain and the rest of Europe. Always be aware of your surroundings. Stay safe Dixie and have fun!

I've watched all of your Hiking videos from your very beginning, because of the Camino. But I've never hike the big Three or walked on the Camino, due to my health, hope to someday. But I've watched ever Camino video there is since the movie, The Way came out. What that means is, I have actually viewed thousands of YouTube Camino videos of pilgrims walking the way, and loved them all. Dixie, Don't change a thing, do it your way, and your sister's way. I'm looking forward to this adventure walk of yours More Than Any Other.

since I was seven I've wanted to walk to compostella. from my front door in the netherlands. I had been planning it but first money was always in the way. then, I got in a heavy car accident, broke my leg, pelvis, sacrum a few ribs and my neck.
they say that I can potentially walk to Spain anyway. the idea of walking to Santiago the compostella is getting more and more meaningful. I really hope to be able to walk again by next year. up to training for this hike.

Don't sweat the verbage, you'll learn! And they accept that! Funny 2 bits to add. 4th year of German lessons, I was advised that I might have a slightly harder time as an exchange student. As my German teacher said. You are the person I have seen who spoke it with a very Southern accent! Let the Bama accent fly, they'll love it, with your attitude!

I did it on a bicycle several months ago at the beginning of my European bicycle trip. The beginning and the end are the best. In between is rather boring. I've heard that the Portuguese one is far more beautiful. The northern one might give you too much wind and rain.

I have walked the Camino Portugees this year. It was great. A lot of different nations etc. Travel light, there are a lot of shops where you can buy everything. Indeed do not forget your stone. Have a nice time in our Europe, Cees from the Netherlands

Funniest I heard from someone doing the El Camino. she was interviewed and asked if she had found herself from doing the El Camino to which she answered Nope so I'm doing it again but the other way since I haven't yet found myself HAHAHHA!
