This video shows the full start-up, take-off RW09 and manually flown departure from Miami (KMIA/MIA. Filmed from a KLM Martinair Boeing 747-400ERF. With about 9 hour to go the flight was heading to Amsterdam. Recorded with: Sony Handycam, GoPro HERO3 Black. itsokyaar: Pilots are super heroes. Calm composed professionals who r responsible for 150 odd peoples lives while driving a machine. everytime I fly I just wait for d pilot's announcements which help soothe my fear of flying. Huge respect.

My cousin is a pilot, its really not as difficult as people think it is. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of hours spent in a simulator to even get a type rating, but the actual work the pilot does is simple, they are mostly trained on what to do if a problem arises with the aircraft. But flying a commercial plane is super simple, there is a V1 speed (you have to take off, you cannot safely keep the aircraft on the ground) (notice the pilot's hands are on the engine throttle until he passes V1, and VR speed (speed which to rotate, or take off, or pull back on the yoke) (when the pilot places both hands on the yoke. (along with a bunch of other speeds. Those 2 speeds are on the screen next to the pilot's right knee. Then in reality, pilots of large commercial aircraft just need to pull up the landing gear, engage the autopilot and set the aircraft's airspeed, altitude, and heading (given from ATC. This pilot knows what he is doing, there is no doubt about it, and he can fly the plane manually without question. But he also could have set autopilot sooner, but that would have made his job look less glorious for the video I guess.

I currently live and study in another country which is so far away from my home country, and one of my best feelings in this world is seeing the plane finally landing on that runway in my hometowns airport, knowing that i and the rest of the passengers landed safely and will be able to see our families and beloved ones after a long journey. I usually go back to my country during the summer or sometimes in the winter if i have a holiday, and one of the worst feelings for me is when youre finally going back, that last day with ur family, packing up, going to the airport and finally seeing that plane taking off while looking down the city closer and closer but its going further and further until it disappears and then i just pray and ask God to bring me back home quickly and safely.

One huge drawback with planes. in huge planes, the pilots cannot see the engines. If they lose power, they don't know if it just stopped or if it fell off the plane. Example? A DC 10 leaving Denver for Los Angeles a few years back, dropped the left engine on takeoff and the pilots didn't have a clue what happened until the tower told them. They reduced speed once airborne so as not to put too much strain on the right engine but that sealed their fate. The flaps retracted on the left wing (engine tore off the hydrolic fluid lines that controlled the flaps) and caused the plane to lose lift on the left side and the left side of the plane dropped and in seconds the plane was inverted and crashed. All aboard were killed.

Great video But some of the assanine comments out here. People need to lighten up I have flown the leer jet on gta before it's fun and some of us dont have the cash flow to learn and fly aircraft so we use the next best thing. I have 13 hours in a 172 Cessna and the gta gives you the feeling of flight and the wee bit difficulty of landing, locating your runway and getting lined up, then coming in on the proper decent for that smooth landing. Is it true to life? Of course not but God gave us all imaginations for a reason.

If I were a pilot I'd be on the loudspeaker. Ladies and gentlemen this is your captain speaking. Thank you for flying United Airlines. You are in great hands. I have tens of hours behind the wheel. Thank you and have a good flight.

Pilots don't do it all by themselves. From the engineers that design the plane, to the mechanics that keep it in good repair, all the way to ATC in the towers. It takes a team. All deserve respect, imo.
