If I have a choice, I go Delta. United has always been decent, but Delta is superior to the rest of them. American is my least favorite, mostly because usually it's poor service. Very poor service and cancellations without any warning whatsoever. I think that was the worst issue I had with American. Delta, you always get what you pay for. I was flying from LAX to Philadelphia to Burlington VT. and my connection to Vermont was cancelled, literally, just as we were to board the flight. No warning or anything, just cancelled. Then, getting another flight was almost impossible. Only good thing was I was traveling alone, so they only had to find one seat and the seats were scattered all over the plane, so they were booking single passengers instead of groups. Making the groups wait till the next day.

The hold for connection is probably for frequent flyers with status that Delta doesn't want to disrupt. I heard they also track our movements via the Delta app and airport beacons, as well as the RFID tag on the luggage when being moved from one flight to another. Delta is generally very punctual, BUT when they are delayed or screwed up, they are then beyond terrible. Delta tend to be at both ends, either really good or really really bad.

If you can afford the extra $109 to get a more comfortable seat and legroom, I guess it's worth it. But that's about all that domestic First Class means in the US. I would have preferred a choice of snacks (which JetBlue offers in Economy) rather than a boxful, most of which I would have thrown away.

Worst seats ever! Uncomfortable, almost no pacing and lumbar support. Neck support is also next to nothing and the the seats are cramped. Fly Alaska if you can. Just had a 5 hrs trip and it was awful. Not even blankets or a pillow are provided

We will be flying MCO-SEA in a month. It appears there are no foot rests in first class (I'm short. Supposedly, we will have hot food service at that time. Thanks for sharing.

Sadly delta just stopped using their 767 on ny to phoenix route. to have a lie flat solo seat a real treat. sadly not much really first class in a 737.

Awesome review. I think you made a good decision to upgrade for the last flight of the day. Their service is worth it!

From ATL to JFK 4hrs and 35 minutes? I think you must have a typo there or they went the REALLY LONG way around.
