The 2025 Kia K5 is a Sedan on a Mission; to Tempt You Into a Sedan

Kia says that the K5 has been growing in popularity within the segment and they're not taking their foot off the throttle. This is a healthy refresh inside and out that builds on the success the K5 has had so far. On the outside it seems that the goal was to be a bit more striking with the addition of the forked lightening headlights and some very clear, sharp edges. It's also a big plus when the base engine sees upgrades and on paper this change should only be to the benefit of K5 shoppers. On the inside drivers will be able to make the most of the optional 12. 3 inch infotainment screen the gives a clean look and makes things easier to use. In the dwindling world of sedans it's great to see effort still being applied and it's needed to keep vehicles like the K5 from from turning into tomorrow's CUV. Travis, Over-the-top and as impractical as possible seem to be the starting points for sedan 'designs' these days and the sales show it. I wonder whether the sloping roof line mania (that destroys rear headroom) will die before it kills off sedans entirely.

To me to front fascia with the weird lighting shape in the front has not appealed to me; I am not a big fan of black only grilles. I am not tempted. Bring back the KIA K900 and import the Hyundai Grandeur would be my preference. I think Genesis is has a strange name for a car brand and the front grille is bombastic and amazingly non-artistic. Looks like a 1st grader designed it.

I would have thought the yellow lights were broken four way blinkers seeing it in traffic. Is that legal in the US We had yellow headlights on some cars and trucks in the EU (mostly the French) but they seems to have been banned by new legislation in 2016.

All look cool and bold like Lamborghini over the years. Problems include looking dated in 2 years to 4, the reliability will also affect it as used vehicles, and crash test results plus real world.

Thanks for the review. I own a midsize car. I would look at this, but probably pass. No hybrid How much money Not enough information for a smart decision. I will wait for a more comprehensive review.

Two reasons why it won’t bring people back:
1. Needed the 1. 6T hybrid out of the Sportage.
2. That back end should have been a liftback, providing more trunk space and utility.

All the camry and accord fanboys in the comments crying this and that. I'd pick K5 gt or Sonata Nline over those uglies anyday. Keep your hybrid bs to yourself

Not sure why Kia does not add a hybrid powertrain to this mid cycle refresh to steal some sales from the Camry. Nonetheless it’s a fine looking sedan.

I was not onboard with the tiger nose design. Always felt like of cheap but last two years Kia has put out some incredible iterations of the language.

Kia putting amber DRLs on everything is only because they took it away fron the telluride for a short while and customers got so angry.

I really like the design, but I couldn't tell if the exhausts were real or not. I hated the fake exhausts on the previous version.

Did they bother to put a LSD on the GT model yet, or is it still going to slip all over the road If not, then it is still a pass.
