The last-gen Avalon wasnt sporty, it just had a very rough ride. The thing was like a washboard, my old Geo Tracker rode nicer. There was no road feel, steering engagement, or connectedness, and the thing still handled and accelerated like the boat it was. It just rode the worst out of any modern car that isnt a Jeep Wrangler, with nothing really to show for it in terms of fun. On the test drive, I thought at first that something must be broken. When the salesman told me its supposed to be like that, I walked right out. I now drive a Nissan Quest, which despite being an enormous minivan with a CVT, is actually more fun than the Avalon and rides very confortably to boot. Its nicer inside too, the Toyota Avalons interpretation of fake wood was one of the most disgusting things Ive ever felt in a car. The new one actually looks like a very good car for the money, though I hope theres an option to get regular leather instead of suede. It ages quickly and is impossible to clean, the only worse place to have it than the steering wheel (Cadillac ATS) is on the door panel.

Camry is not an Avalon. Noticeably smaller inside - especially if you are not a short man like Alex. Ride is considerably harsher, too. But Camrys make nice rental fleet vehicles if that is what you like to drive. LOL. Chrysler is MUCH less reliable than Toyota. Who needs the aggravation? Buick is also less reliable, but not as bad as Chrysler. It is a reasonable alternative. Cadenza is really the competition here, and it comes down to what kind of deal you can get. And actually the best comparison for the Avalon is the Lexus ES350. There is another video here which compares the Avalon and the ES350 and puts the Avalon on top. So one guy puts Avalon over Lexus ES, and if you believe Alex, the Camry is over the Avalon - so I guess that would make the Camry over the Lexus ES350. I would love to see Alex compare those two and come to that conclusion. LOL.

I have a 2007 Toyota Avalon touring. I like that car. its comfortable and cushy and great on the highway. and its fast and handles better than it should have. today I sat in a 2019 Avalon. that think is ugly. the interior isnt that great (too many parts from the camry like the seats. the steering. speaking of the seats. they were hard and firm. and it doesnt feel that spacious inside. Im sure its bigger than my 07 but the inside feels way smaller. and the design dosent feel as classy as the 07. Im really disappointed. what did they do to that car. they are trying to make it sporty and cool but this car will never be that. its big and heavy. it did its job well as a comfortable sedan. why change that? Im so sad that there isnt cush comfy cars that floats over the road any more: (

You really should have tested the Touring. The steering wheel isnt manual in the Touring, though I absolutely agree regarding the length of the seat cushion. I own the Touring and it needs a thigh extender or simply longer thigh support. The gas mileage is surprisingly than good. Ive owned mine for three weeks and havent filled the tank. heck it still had half a tank. This car isnt loud and the ride isnt stiff. Maybe the SXE offers less sound deadening materials. The Camry is really fun to drive with the V6.

Awww Alex. it should have been Roxy Musics Avalon on the Carplay screen. Anyway, if Im concerned for the looks alone, then Id go for the Avalon than the Camry. But if the price difference between them is about 5k-10k, then Id go for the Camry instead. I think not a lot is gained here compared to the Camry. And I dont like that sharp edge on the side vents. You would probably bump your head there when cleaning the lower portions of the dash.

for every reason people buy CUVs instead of mid-sized sedans, they are magnified when looking at large sedans. people who value plush interiors, active suspension, and easy entry/exit just get a CUV and move on with their lives. they dont care about whose large model is going to cannibalize mid model or lux model sales. they care about how much their vehicle is going to prevent them from arriving to work in an irritable mood.

Looks like diff teams - with very diff ideas - designed this car in/out. Like how reliable Toyota/Lexus is but if they could hire a good designer house that could benefit Toyota big time. Not having android auto in it is bull, isnt apple using google maps too, plus apple saves/records everything just like google or pretty much any 3rd party app on a phone with tons of permissions most fully oblivious about.

Ive been looking at this car as I want a sedan and not a suv for my next vehicle. Im really tall so a bigger sedan is what I want/need. This car looks really nice, except for the front grill. Just when I think, its not that bad, I take a closer look at it and it looks bad to me. Like, what were they thinking bad. Hopefully theyll do something different when I finally decide to get a new car.

I think it looks good and it will have amazing reliability. I just hate that they have sporty trims. A car like this doesnt need to be and shouldnt try to be sporty. These manufactures are trying to inject sportiness into everything and make it into a damn 3 series. Its a big ass sedan. Make it comfortable and keep it that way. Save the sporty crap for the smaller Camry and Corolla.

Dont forget the Chevrolet Impala. More spacious, very good ride quality and big dsicounts, you can get a V6 Impala for 25k. Ford Taurus and Chrysler 300 offer insane discounts currently, you can get them for 20k or even less. Toyota is selling the Avalon on reputation alone, no other reason to spend nearly 15k more on a long wheelbase Camry over real full size sedans.
