The Ranger feels like a low-effort addition to the American market. Obviously the first generation (in North America that is) will have some issues and need improvement, but it feels like Ford just wanted to get something in the midsize pickup market ASAP. The towing figures with the 4 cylinder are admittedly impressive, along with having best-in-class MPG ratings among gas engines.

The Gladiator is a bit ungainly looking in my opinion. I sense a lot of cost cutting involved with the decision to not make a proper greenhouse behind the B-pillar.
