2024 Tesla Model 3 First Drive - The Model 3 Receives A Subtle But Sophisticated Update

The Tesla Model 3 arrived on a red carpet when it was first introduced in 2017 and has only had its popularity challenged by the closely related Model Y. As much as it pains me to say it, 2017 was quite a few years ago and in that time we've seen very little attention paid to the Model 3. until now. The internet rumor mill was swirling and the Highland Model 3 had some hype to live up to. With minor cosmetic changes (typical of a mid cycle refresh) on the outside, a familiar but fresh new feeling on the insider, and and some quality of life improvements throughout the car the updated Model 3 may not exceed expectations but it meets them firmly where it needs to.

Tesla is out of cars because Elon Musk doesn't want to spend THAT much time going into the office and and doing executive (execute/authorise) work. He told his engineers years ago to not bother him. if they can simply 'fettle unto death' the old stuff for as long as possible. Accept his word that it should be now looked on as an energy company. That's much less time' consuming and enabling much more 'research' into culture warfare. poor thing. Tesla cars are the equivalent of point to point rocket travel. until it's seen through.

I definitely disagree with no turn signal stalk and the lack of fog lights. However, so few people actually use their turn signals and people often use fog lights when they aren't beneficial. I think a gauge cluster like the prius would be great and make a ton of sense with this design. Personally, I won't even consider a Tesla while they have no intention of offering Carplay or Android Auto knowing that they could add it with a simple update and choose not to.

In the close shop that is the American understanding of automobiles today, it plays in the 'minor leagues'. The real big league is China and also Europe. because they deliver what the potential customer wants/expects. ie, stalks buttons and affordability, and my BYD Seal delivers much more than the company that abandoned us. Oh. and our roads are far too bumpy for screen domination. Wakey wakey. Elon is a salesman extraordinare.

I used to be quite enamored with Teslas, but at a certain point a few years ago, their creative cost cutting got a bit too much for me. That combined with their CEO, I've totally lost interest in anything they put out. I still appreciate them for showing the world the potential of electric cars (a Model 3 was my first intro to one, but its going to take a lot for me to ever consider them again

I’ve been a model 3 owner since 2018, and I don’t know if I would ever enjoy using that touchscreen shifter. Buttons on the back of the wheel would have been way better. And paddles would have been great for the turn signals. The touchscreen gearshift would be almost as annoying as a steering yoke

Tesla is clearly trying to make driving as boring as possible. So everyone wants to use autopilot and won't complain in a couple of years when autopilot is the only option. You won't be able to drive your car.
You will just be a passenger in your transportation device.
Hard Pass!

Looks nice on the outside, but I'm not a fan of the exceptionally bland interior, the lack of a gauge cluster, and the lack of physical, tactile buttons. It seems like a very disengaging driving experience. A car for techies, but to a lesser extend auto enthusiasts.

Considering that the Tesla Model 3 starts at $40, 000 and goes up to well over $50, 000, it's certainly not affordable. EVs will never be the future unless Tesla and other carmakers produce affordable EVs. Many of us Americans simply cannot afford EVs!

I prefer physical buttons for controls, so I went with Chevy Bolt, but to each their own. Hopefully the price cuts continue so more people can make the leap to electric! They need to adjust the 3 so it's eligible for the federal tax credit too.

Hillarious seeing the comments by folks who gulp down legacy news media BS. They spend all their time going after Musk because hes a threat to their businesses. Musk is a net good for humanity. Tesla cars are great too.

I don't understand how anyone could look at this and actually want to purchase it. Like there's just nothing appealing about it. It's just a tech showcase that moves, except the tech is no longer new or unique

Any video without Alex is so unwatchable. The charisma combined with detailed reviews is why we watch.
You'd think especially for a video that would bank more views than most, that we'd get the A team.

The two big things I wanted from the refresh were bidirectional charging and a HUD. I’m disappointed that we didn’t get either of those bits it’s still a solid upgrade overall

This car is in it's 8th model year. It really needed a complete redesign in lieu of a mid-cycle refresh. Letting a design get stale is a sure-fire way to tank your sales over time.

Man the pricing without the tax credit just makes it a really bad buy vs the Ioniq 6, you get so much more in features, nicer interior, and 800v charging for cheaper.

How many times you going to swipe up and down How many times you look up to select a gear, imagine bending your head up and down to select D or R what a poor feature

I hate the minimalist interior, lack of stalks on the wheel, lack of buttons, lack of gauge cluster and cheap interior materials. But they do drive beautifully.

It will be worth the wait in 3 years when it is $25, 000. See Tesla already has a $25, 000 Tesla. A used Model S, 25, 000, a used Model 3 25, 000.

Great review! Best in class EV gets substantial upgrades and price stays unchanged. Other manufacturers need to take notice!
