The Blazer has one enormous advantage right now: There are insane deals on it. Want a $250/month lease No problem. Over $10, 000 off MSRP plus a tax credit Yep, you'll find that as well. Is that enough for you to overlook the Blazer EV's quirks

Get the blazer EV. You are one of the top reviewers on YT, but please I am asking you to try to have an open mind as an Apple fan in terms of using the blazer UI. 99% of the negativity around the lack of phone projection is from carplay/Apple fans who spend more time telling you they are upset than they do explaining exactly why they can't function in a car without carplay. The only valid argument Ive heard so far is that you cant use apple music unless you use bluetooth- thats really it. All the other complaints are vague and really boil down to apple users being inflexible and upset that they would have to step out of the apple ecosystem for any aspect of their lives. If you can use a modern smarphone or table there is no way you cannot figure out how to enter destinations or perform any basic function in the blazer. Absolutely none. Anyone saying they have trouble understanding it simply is not trying because they don't want to learn it- they just want to whine about not having carplay.

Whoever made the dummy move to not have CarPlay/Android should be quaking in their boots if not already fired. GM often does silly things like this, like putting door switches on the console in a variety models and eliminating roll down rear windows in the 80’s on their horrible sedans and ultimately have to fix these decisions but not until the negative reaction and loss of sales. I can almost guarantee some enterprising person is working on some kind of hack dongle to allow CarPlay but until then, you’ll continue to hear criticism of this decision.

On behalf of those whose electronics don't have an Apple on it, we don't care about Apple Carplay and its not a factor at all. I like the idea of a 500hp SS Blazer EV, I like the idea that the panoramic roof and GM supercruise is optional I'd rather save the money. Also AWD is important for us who get snow. Finally 250 miles of actual range is good for many of us. In the past 15 years I haven't had to drive more than 200 miles in one day, living in NJ. Good job again on your videos Alex.

The new Honda Civic has an attractive and unique blue hue, but the kind of blue GM is offering on these is the worst color option. Especially when it transfers to the interior trim. That midwest cheese that GM can't seem to ever quite overcome is there in abundance in this one. It's not as if the European designers are always at the top of their game, but it's shocking to me that Chevy never learns anything from the many home runs drawn up over the pond.

I vote buy the blazer and see if actually living with it long term if carplay is as big of an issue as you thought. maybe you can report back findings and social feedback when going to gm press events
it definitely is a turn off, but how do we know if we can live without it until we try everyone thought they were crazy for ditching the headlight switch but i see plenty of colorados on the road with their lights on at night and off during the day

I went to a Chevy dealer last week about ordering a 2025, but they didn't yet have any pricing information. Are the deals you mentioned mainly for 2024 models I'm asking mostly because there have been a couple of cryptic claims regarding performance upgrades for 2025--no one seems to know whether that's a reference to the upcoming SS model or whether there might be improvements across the model line, software or otherwise.

At first when you did your first review with this car I wasn’t interested because of the price was just way to high. Now that has changed, it’s incredibly priced very well for me to consider purchasing. I’m fine without Apple CarPlay not being able to be used since I find it lagging to hook up sometimes and doesn’t always utilize the full size of the screen pretty well. Awesome review. I hope you wind up buying it.

With the current offers, this is a whole lot of car for the money. I appreciate GM's attention to repairability, as it should keep insurance costs down. And efficiency is impressive for such a big, wide, heavy car. The only downside I can think of is that those big RS tires are going to be pricey to replace, and the curb weight means you'll find that out sooner than you'd like. Other than that, this seems like a home run.

I laughed at the styling of these at first, joking that the interior looked like a Camaro exploded all over it. I finally drove one (the LS AWD) and was impressed to the point that if I needed a car right now it would be way up on the list. The interior was highly functional and the car had a solidity and quality feel above others I have driven in the price range. Definitely a respectable effort by GM.

I don't know why the general public would prefer AWD. They are heavier, have a shorter range, take longer to recharge for x miles, and the two wheel drive models will do quite well in most driving conditions that people actually drive. Two wheel drive is also less expensive and less expensive is what many of us are looking for. I'm still waiting for an affordable useful EV option.

Love the Blazer EV, it's unfortunate that it has had a rough introduction because of software issues. My main concerns isnt the lack of AA or Apple Carplay but the charging times and tepid performance for what you pay for. The front seats may need to be reviewed by GM for replacement by better units. Its a solid sporty EV nonetheless and should be considered by prospective customers.

The only reason to buy an EV Blazer over the Equinox is the SS version of the Blazer that Chevy claims it will make. Otherwise the Equinox EV is a better looking and better value vehicle. It’s too much money, too wide and not tall enough.
Also why no plug in How come I have to choose between all electric or all gas Why can’t I have a plug with a blend of both

Respect for GM to have future battery chem compatibility in mind. Love this. I hope they can come up with something like that for 2022-23 bolt euv, I am interested in that haha. Not having Carplay is okay I guess, especially if this system works seamlessly with Android phones. Apple should be worried about this trend in fact, and try to collaborate/codevelop.

GM has such a reputation for turning out crap over the years. It’ll be hard to take them seriously on this kind of technology. Unless they partnering with somebody and that somebody better be careful because GM will drag them down. I mean who’s in charge of planning at that place if they’re making electric hummers.
reply

Gas Equinox handily outsells gas Blazer. Fleet sales probably skew that but it's about 200k vs 60k. I'm curious if the EVs will be as lopsided.
My biggest attachment to AA is the upgrade-ability (buying a new phone); I'm hoping cheap cars just get a phone/tablet holder like other markets.

Alex's intro about repairability reminds me of when in the 90s and 2000s GM did advertisements for their REPAIR SHOPS. Remember Mr. Goodwrench GM cared more about repairs than making sure it didn't need them in the first place (reliability, and it appears they haven't changed much since.

It ends up being cheaper than the ICE when you consider monthly cost of ownership. People always forget your real car payment is loan fuel. You will likely pay $300 for gas per month vs $50 for electricity. This is based on my real world numbers in my area.

I purchased one in Nov and only drove it for 150 miles before it died. Sure, the updates have cleared up some of the issues mine had, but it sat for 29 days without ever being completely fixed. I completed the buyback in Feb. I have zero regrets about ditching it.
reply

I don't understand this idea that GM is doing something amazing by offering a gas Blazer and an EV Blazer. The only thing that they share is a name, so why is that an accomplishment They could've just as easily called it something else and nobody would bat an eye.
reply

I’m also super hesitant about buying a car without CarPlay. I had the Bolt EUV, which was my first GM product and was greatly pleased and would love to see the improvements with the Ultium platform, but the lack of CarPlay is a big negative.
