It'd be fine if it was slowest in its segment if the gas mileage was there, but the MDX-S is far and away the thirstiest in its competition, with reported MPGs being as bad as BMW's V8 TT. that's simply unacceptable. They added heaps of piano black plastic to the front of of the vehicle where it's going to swirl and look awful in a year's time.
As for the reliability aspect that the fanboys love to harp on, with the fact that this thing has air suspension, that's going to be a multi-thousand dollar maintenance cost that's guaranteed to be there in the not-too-distant future. Tack onto that the fact that this using a timing belt rather than a chain. Cost of long-term ownership is going to be eclipse even the Europeans.
This is a $75k lease-machine for those who refuse to drive anything but a Honda. which is ironic, since the whole reason for buying Honda's in the past was their long-term reliability and owning them for long periods. Because God knows their build quality is poor and only getting worse.

If you care about fuel economy you shouldn’t even be shopping in this category
To those naysayers who say luxury car shoppers do care about fuel efficiency, you’re wrong. Just flat out wrong
Do you see people in vehicles like the m3, m5, e63, x3m40i, x5M, Hellcat, SRT, Demon, C8 Corvette, GT500, etc etc. crying about fuel economy as if it’s life threatening Do you see them pulling their hair out because they only get 13-16mpg
No you don’t. Why Because it doesn’t even matter
If you want the ultimate luxury of fuel economy and not having to stop at the gas station all the time, there’s a Prius or Camry hybrid with your names on it. Who’s even going to say if I want high fuel economy, I’m not gonna buy a Prius. I’ll buy a 75-100k luxury car

Don't want a hybrid at the expense of losing the naturally aspirated v6. What you want is a mild hybrid that eliminates failure points. (starter, alternator, belt driven compressor. Adds electric motor to takeover starting and take-off duties. Adds 1-2 mpg to boot. Keep the v6 and make it more bulletproof.

Again Honda/Acura spoils a perfectly good car with ridiculous, cheap looking, reflective, dirt-displaying, shiny-black plastic.
Is there a tonneau cover to protect your stuff from prying eyes If so, how much does it cover. All SUVs should cover from the second’ row, back.

They should've kept the palm rest. Second in order to fit 5 carry-on luggage side by side behind the third row, you have to collapse the floor board into the floor then you can stand luggage upright. I'm still shocked that not one reviewer was able to find this.

I'm glad Acura finally updated the infotainment screen to something comparable to the top trims of the Civic and Accord. Now can they bring the textured, non-reflective plastic from the Civic to the center console to replace the acres of shiny piano black

The best selling luxury 3-row of all time just got better. The MDX's closest competitor, the Lexus TX, was just 1% behind in sales, but with the TX's stop-sale/recall, Acura's most likely to keep the segment crown for a long time.

Thank you for the wonderful review. I would love to hear what the new sound readings are back in Kentucky. I was able to test drive a 2025 myself and did note double ridged glass on all four doors.

Wasn’t aware this is best selling 3 row - wow. Used to own one of these it was a great vehicle. I think the best looking. Wish they had a plug in hybrid - we would be buying one again.

I think the exterior styling is pretty much sublime. Interior has some faults and lack of storage. But Alex is right, bring back the hybrid and you have the ultimate luxury family runabout

Acura needs to bring back the mdx hybrid. I love my 17 hybrid powertrain and cant see myself upgrading to the current gen without one. It's almost as fast as the type s. Smh

Alex and Travis, Other than track days with your 3 row CUV, I just don't see how anything beats the high mpg Hybrid options in this segment.

Agree! Needs a hybrid or mild hybrid. Throw in some 3rd row air vents, get rid of the piano black trim, and make all the USBs type C.
