So you gave a range score for the fuel economy score? Seriously, Alex? Instead of doing that, make a new score for range. The 'fuel economy' of any Tesla is still better than 99% of cars on the road. So I don't understand why is only received a B. Also you have to streamline you comparisons with other cars. Sometimes you talk about ICE cars like in the handling department but then abruptly switch to electric cars only when talking about 'fuel economy'. Doesn't make much sense. I'd like to hear why you do the scores like this?

I still think this is a half-baked car. Sure a lot of parts are shared with the Model 3 but given its poor quality and ergonomics, Tesla hasn't learned anything when it comes to building cars. Also I'm very critical of the misleadingly named Autopilot system which is advertising itself more as a hands-off self driving feature when the fine print clearly states you must have hands on wheel, meaning it is no different than any other automaker's Level 2 lane-keeping & radar adaptive cruise.

If you want an EV, one of the biggest arguments for the Tesla is their super charger network. Ford has none which means you would have to rely on other 3rd party charger stations which are not as capable, reliable or as well populated as Tesla's. So I would choose the model Y over the Ford in a heart beat on just that alone (I think there are many other arguments in favor the Y but that one alone is good enough.

Alex, I find this odd. On your interior overview section of the car, you mention that the car door is hard/soft touch plastic. Hard on the bottom and soft at the top, however I went and test drove a model y performance (which is what I have ordered now) and the ENTIRE door was soft touch (except the bottle holder interior area, are you sure you are correct in the video?

I wonder if Tesla doesn t have CarPlay or Android Auto because they can t monetize it or due to the fact their UI controls 98% of the car functions. Eventually, Tesla will only allow features based on subscription or Software as a Service (SaaS. The Premium Connectivity service is only the beginning.

Another great review, as always. So the real question: in the Model 3 review, you said you would have purchased and kept a Model Y if it were available at that time. Now that you have driven one, are you planning on buying a Model Y for yourself?

Even if the motors are updated, it wouldn't matter because that would mean the current Model 3's have those same upgraded motors. Tesla doesn't only upgrade their models once every few years like other brands, they upgrade every day.

I appreciate that your range test spent considerable time at 72 MPH. The majority of my miles are driven at 75 MPH, so it's good to know realistically how much range to expect from the Model Y in my situation.

I'm interested in this car but the overall fit, finish, and panel gaps are really bad. Waiting for the next year model when they work all of this out. You can tell this was rushed into production.
