2021 Toyota Mirai A Quick Look At The Prototype

Toyota is starting to let some details slip on the new 2021 Mirai. In addition to a sleek new profile, their latest hydrogen fuel cell vehicle will be a rear wheel drive sedan that appears to be based on a short wheelbase Lexus LS. We don't know power figures yet, nor do we know the exact look of the upcoming Mirai but the blue sedan we got to see is likely 95%+ of the way there

Cool lexus lol Looks like they took the wheels off a 2019 ES/G90, painted them black, and threw them on a shortened LS500. I would never buy the LS500 due to its length and that v6 twin turbo engine. I guess the 2021 Murai will be the only option for longevity and low repair cost On a side note, why do auto makers keep increasing the wheel sizes on their cars? Only thing that suffers is ride quality with no sidewall 18 is rough as it is with 45 profile tires, couldn't imagine 20 wagon wheels I prefer the 17 55 sidewall on the 19 Avalon and 19 ES. Still nothing like the ls 400 with 15 wheels and 65 profile balloon tires. Usually the wider the tire contact patch, the noiser the tire is. No matter the tire compound or tread design. I was surprised the Corolla hybrid was no better than a prius liftback, since it had a sealed trunk for NVH.

that separating line on center console feels like it's a border between the driver and it. It should go on the side of co driver or be removed. Same thing they did in supra and it feels bad, driver needs to be connected to center console, this way it feels like center console is there for the co driver primarily and that the driver is secondary user. Also how are huge wheels gonna benefit hybrid/EV. Design otherwise looks refreshing compared to the boring and non functional present model.

Im not sure how hydrogen fuel cell mileage works, would you consider this vehicle fuel efficient? Will it be more efficient than, say, a corolla, Camry, or prius? Nonetheless, a very beautiful car and I think it would make a nice Lexus, though that might make it significantly more expensive.

This is cool, but nobody really gives a shit about Hydrogen/fuel cells in the US outside of a very small niche market. Toyota will sooner or later need to get on board with EVs. They can only kick the can down the road for so long.

I went to the focus group for the current Mirari; and I told them I would not take that over the Nexo or Tesla (their question) even hydrogen station near me. The reason is the style being so ugly. I am glad they listened

I see some Avalon inspiration it looks really good I dont see the current generation Mirai aging in design its one of those special cars that doesnt show its age

This actually looks rather pleasing, more than the current LS. They can just place a Lexus badge on the front and it could even pass for the next gen GS.

This is only wow because its a toyota(avg joe attainable. If it was a lexus gs/ls fuel cell with price to match 80k-90k+ it is not that intriguing.
