As expected, the 2020 Corolla sedan is the 4-door version of their recently launched 5-door hatchback. Power is up thanks to a new 2. 0L engine thats available in the SE and XSE trims, fuel economy has improved and there are more gadgets than ever before. On the downside it appears that legroom has dropped notably vs the last generation

Great review as always Alex I love how you cover all of the details and give useful comparisons between other vehicles. Im honestly kind of disappointed with what theyve done with the Corolla. From the back of the front doors forward it looks great, but the change in dimension from the back doors rearward the car looks a little squished from a side profile. Why they thought it would be a good idea to reduce rear legroom I have no idea serious that was one of the good things about the last Corolla was it it had decent rear legroom for a smaller car. So its more expensive, its heavier, and its smaller. Doesnt really seem like a great combination. also why in the hell would I want Amazon Alexa in a vehicle? the purpose of systems like that are pair with your phone. I wonder what the holdup is on Android auto? Heard something about privacy concerns. That seems kind of idiotic considering if I have an Android phone I already susceptible to whatever privacy issue theyre concerned about. Honestly I would buy the previous generation. Still had nice LED headlights a bigger interior oh, quite frankly I kind of like the style on the interior better to on the old one. also worried a little bit about a brand new CVT transmission. The older CVT had a good reputation for excellent reliability. Especially compared to the Nissan transmissions which Ive heard very bad things about. Keep up the great work.

Thank you, you are one of the best car reviewers I ever know, but unfortunately for me, you never talk about the two things I usually like to hear: I wonder why you dont talk about visibility of the cars and sound system quality. These are two things that we cannot find through numbers and pictures and I listen to reviewers to help me in this matter. In this corolla model the location of side mirrors have been changed so that the visibility is better - every reviewer is talking about, that, and you even didnt mention it. In the next reviews please do remember these two things. I dont think that there are time limitations for you. Thank you

Looks like they are taking cues from Kia and Hyundai in the styling department Still, not bad looking, but Ive moved away from sedans, and now drive a Kia Soul. I like its more distinctive and radical looks over another angular looking sedan. The Soul is far more roomy inside than any of those sedans listed, even compared to the Camry And Kia decided to buck tradition in the Soul and go with an Infotainment pod, built into the dash, and not that silly looking pad style we see so many cars coming with. I personally hate those pad styled systems Kia was smart to integrate it into the dash of the Soul and keep it clean looking

Its sad that my 2005 Corolla XRS (with only came in a Manual) gets as good fuel economy 29/36/30 (city is worse) but is still a full second faster than the latest generation. (Both cars do have the peek power towards the top of the rev range 1707600 rpm vs. 1696600rpm) and the new corolla makes more torque as well than the 05 XRS (128ft-lb vs. 158ft-lb. That being said, If I was in the market to buy a new sporty sedan the Corolla would not be my first choice. The civic Si provides way more power and fun at around the same price as the top trim Corolla. Very disappointing.

When toyota up their game - its game over for everyone else. Big 3 (ford, chrysler and gm) depends of physical appearance and bullshit features to sell their product while lacking reliability. They paid millions to JD power to over hyped their product making bullshit awards for being reliable for 3 months (initial quality award) lol Toyota, however banking on reliability and simplicity -lacking some extra features you can live without. Funny thing about this, toyota still out sells the big 3 in their small car to mid size car despite being boring and plain.

Test drove the LE. Quieter than the SE with the 2. 0 and low profiles, by 2 decibels at least on hard acceleration. Steering is great. Seat comfortable. Lost a little bit of room for the right leg to flop over, but not bad. Suspension is great. The 16 inch rims and tires give a great ride, but I did not test it over sizeable potholes only small ones which was fine. Overall felt a bit rugged like a Corolla should. No sport drive, but I found the acceleration good.

Toyota is recallin 32000 2019 Corollas with the CVT transmission because the transmission wears out quickly and Toyota wont replace the transmission after warranty even though they know about the problem. Toyota issued an updated bulletin to inform buyers about the problem and to shunt responsibility for the repairs. The 2020 Corolla has a new kind of CVT transmission with a built in simulated first gear. Time will tell if this new CVT transmission will hold up.

Recently purchased a Lexus RC 2019 however, I still use my Corolla S 2006 with 160K Miles and its still sturdy, dependable, and smooth driving. As my very first car, it presents that its hanging on quite well with very little to no maintenance required in comparison to other compact sedan. I praise Toyota from head to toe with its reliability. Rock on Japanese made vehicles

There is no doubt that these are great cars. The problem is the only way to improve the looks of that open mouth is to maybe run it into a tree? They are so ugly it will be difficult to buy no matter how good it is I wish Toyota would be a bit more conservative with their design because my God those things are just ugly as sin

This is a bit off-topic, but are there any compact cars, besides maybe a VW Golf, that have good headroom and legroom for rear passengers? This move from Toyota to shrink the rear seating area to match the competition seems to imply that it is now an industry standard for compact cars to not offer rear seating for 2 adults.
