fuel economy is incredible but they could have thrown a turbo on that thing and given it 300 hp like Rav 4 Prime and i would gladly lose a few MPG for that. likely reason they didn't do that as well as why they didn't give it a bigger screen and moonroof is because then it would be better than Highlander which is their cash cow. as for the Pacifica the interior already looked dated when it came out and it's still the same today - plus they can't seem to stop it from spontaneously catching on fire. in my opinion the closest competition to this Sienna is the Ford Explorer Hybrid. in the base variant the Sienna makes a lot of sense with its fuel economy but if you're going to be going up to Platinum trim might as well go with Explorer for the extra power unless you really need that fridge and vacuum.

Just traded off a 2018 Kia Sorento to a very well-loved 2012 Sienna AWD Limited. Unbelievably, the 8-year-old Sienna has a better ride, and interior fit and finish than our Kia did. The Sienna was also our first minivan, and we may never go back to an SUV. It's a tough call between this and the Honda, either way, it will be a fully loaded van as these options/features are very welcome on long road trips. At first, I was upset the V6 went away as it's so refined at this point, but it sounds like Toyota's hybrid solution will be a welcomed addition. Thank you for such a great review. I look forward to a more in-depth one in the future

If Toyota could have shaved about 1000 to 1500 off the MSRP then they'd make a compelling argument of being one of the best values. But they not only ask for a significant more money, they make the spare tire optional, rear entertainment optional (compared to the Odyssey which is standard eq at the higher trims) and make the second row seats irremovable. The XSE trim, being the sportier trim level, should have at least come with an optional V6. For the current pricing they should have more standard equipment. With no fridge or vacuum, there's little reason to buy the Platinum over the Limited versions.

Is the Sienna middle row with the three across seating comfortable? I need a AWD car that can fit 7 (ideally 8) without everyone being cramped together and uncomfortable and has enough cargo space to carry a decent amount of cargo. My 2010 Acadia trunk is pretty tiny with all seats down. So far all I can find are the Suburban and this Sienna (but only the lower trims. The Suburban is awesome but huge and expensive. I would rather get this Sienna but the middle seat in the middle row seems like an afterthought and with three carseats in the middle row my older kids will struggle to exit the vehicle.

With gas prices trending down over the last several years, this means the extra cost of the Hybrid system would not work for me in Florida. If I was paying California or Pennsylvania gas prices it might make more sense. I have done the math and the payback of the extra cost vs the savings in gas does not pencil out. As far as the environmental aspect. Hybrid Battery manufacturing is dirty and energy consuming, I consider any environmental advantage a wash.

What a terrible decision by Toyota. The highlander doesn t need excessive sound insulation between the cabin and the engine bay because the base engine is a smooth V6, yet in the car that gets their noisy hybrid powertrain, they decide to skimp our on the firewall sound deadening.

Sienna is superior for road trips because interior space is huge with exceptional rooms for 3rd seatings and luggage space. Sienna s ride much smoother and quieter than SUVs (Highlander, Pilot. Toyota Sienna is great. Our Pilot and Highlander never been used for long road trips.

I like everything about the new sienna except the 0-60 time of 8. 4 seconds. That s just unacceptable in 2021. I hope Toyota has done extensive market research to conclude that 0-60 acceleration is not that important to mini van drivers. I hope this sells well.
