The 2023 Integra Is Fantastic. If You Set Your Expectations Right.

IMHO, most of the negative reviews I've seen on the Integra are based on a faulty premise: that Acura intended to create a head-on competitor to the Audi RS3 or CLA 45. In reality the Integra is what it has always been: a value play for customers wanting something a little nicer that's fun to drive. Aka, the Luxury Honda. With a low MSRP, tons of standard equipment and liely low maintenance and repair costs, the Integra is as true to the name as ever. But that means that it's not competitive with mid-level trims of the Germans because its mission is different. Don't like it? Don't buy it. LOL

I totally disagree with you on the front end styling. I went to 3 dealers and test drove a spec A 6 speed and couldn t differentiate this car on the lot with other Acura's. The front end is about 5 inches too long for no apparent reason, and the 'Face' and grille is too heavy and same as the other Acura's. They should have saved weight with a shorter front end, and given it it s own styling, and used the savings for sound deadening. And OMG! Is that nasty mouse hair for the interior fabric? Yuck! How about a darker shade of red for that interior instead of lipstick red?

consumers these days. we are too well educated and too discerning. the days of old half baked lazy attempts at serving the market leftover cold dishes is over.
basically honda found a discount coupon to hire some 2nd string designers to dress the ILX into a this ugly hatch thing. gave it a 6 speed manual from their parts bin. and called it the return of the integra. in place of the discontinued ILX. and we were just gonna roll over and play dead and let them fool us? nice try honda.

17: 25 I was little surprised to hear probable going to be one of the most reliable with that 1. 5 turbo engine? (I think we have discussed about it on live shows about its Oil dilution feature. However It is fantastic to hear you say its excellent, that its been made in India not German who is known to be more sporty. Adaptive suspension is key in this class I guess because if you take a STi a fantastic car but rides horrible. So it is important Acura to have adaptive suspension.

Why would you not compare it against a Mazda3 Turbo?
I feel sad for that car. Reviewers don't compare it against GTI, WRX, Elantra N, etc. saying that it's not as hardcore and it's more of an entry level luxury car competitor. Now when it comes to reviews of cars like Integra, it's again not mentioned at all (which is beyond my understanding. It's a closer match to this car than all the other German competitors you mentioned.

Interesting points were raised in the video, Alex. In my mind, this goes to show what absolute terrible values entry-level German cars are. You check one option box, and you're into the next level up, which are all much better cars than the entry-level models. In this class, I would simply vote 'none of the above' and buy a CPO A4/3-Series/C-Class for the same or less money.

If you want something a bit more special than a Civic and don't wan't the roughness of the Si - you get an Integra. How hard is that to grasp?
I feel for the enthusiasts stuck in the past, this is truly an outstanding vehicle - purposeful, compliant and doesn't break the bank like the other competitors.

reply

Demand for the MT is not as strong as hoped so most dealers are stuck with multiple MT cars they cannot sell (immediate availability vs months for a Civic SI)
So in the real world this is less expensive than a Civic SI (plus Acura is offering discounted financing and leases)

Alex - What brands have the best lane keep assist or lane centering systems? I'm thinking about the Mazda CX-50, RAV4, Honda Passport, Acura RDX, etc. I'd love to see a video from you going over the vehicles with the best driving assist features.

I think the pricing of the Acura has more to do with the price of the Civic. Acura can't charge too much more than Honda. If the did, the wouldn t sell any. Regardless of the few extras you get on an Acura.
reply

Everyone crying about how this car is a gussied up Civic, that s always been what the Integra is all about. Plus it s Civic roots means it doesn t get Acuras garb TrueTouch touchpad infotainment.

WHY do Acura cars become so dull-looking after just a few years. Other brands remain shiny and bright, but Acura? They really look drab as if the paint has worn off and dulled.
reply

This thing is a Civic with an A badge. Not sure what people are expecting. There's nothing luxury or high end about it, except jacked up price accompanying the name
reply

People are never happy with anything.
New WRX is ugly,
Supra is a BMW
New Z is flatout boring,
Integra is what Civic Si was supposed to be.

reply

Alex, that pricing graph really tells a different story than anything Acura has said. Acura marketing should steal everything you just said.
reply

I can't stop thinking like 'is Acura luxury? ' whenever I see them. Even those of Infiniti or Genesis are luxurious more than Acura.
