2024 Buick Envista First Look The Slinky Option

Buick's answer to the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Lexus UX is the sleek and sexy Envista: a slinky coupe-like crossover with a low-slung roofline and a low-low price tag. The 2024 Envista will start at 23, 495 and end just over 30, 000. With that price range you might think it's more of a Trailblazer / Kona / Corolla Cross competitor, and you'd be right there too. Travis: Looks awesome. These 3-cylinder engines are a huge concern. Imagine the cost of repairs vs a less stylish (unfortunately) Toyota small 4-cylinder that has a reputation for going 300K miles and holding its value far better. Are there 3-cylinder engines that have proven themselves reliable to date for a ton of miles?

Going out on a limb here, but I think this is based on the new 2024 Chevy Trax. Same engine. Same transmission. Different shape, but a similarly wide, low stance. What's interesting/weird is that the starting price of this Buick Envista is the mid-tier trim of the 2024 Chevy Trax, which already has a very low price. Usually, a more premium brand starts a touch above the top trim of a parent company's cheaper brand that uses the same platform. I think this will eat into Chevy Trax sales. With all that said, this new Envista looks great! If I squint I see Lamborghini Urus SUV. The Envista (love the name, btw) seems like a great value. I'm intrigued but have reservations about reliability. I'm wondering if this was styled in China and using Korean (GM Daewoo) engineering.

One of the most interesting new vehicles. Obviously targeting women with the styling and the value. I think it will be quite roomy because it is definitely not small -- more midsize than compact. 11 inches longer than Encore. Cargo volume number is modest on paper, but the liftback design means that volume comes from bigger area vs smaller height.

Interesting appearance. It is nice to see that they were wise and retained physical switches for heating/cooling and other things so you don't have to be distracted while driving and watching where your finger is pointing on a touch screen.
A downside is that they didn't make it a PHEV.

I really like the look, and I m a big fan of Buick. I ve still got a 2019 Buick regal I bought new.
But I just can t do their tiny engines. They feel horrid to drive. No power to get out of their own way. I ll wait for the Electric models I guess.

Does Buick(or GM for that matter) even really offer AWD on any models? Sure you can spec it on the website, but in terms of real inventory they are non-existent. Same with Cadillacs. Out of hundreds of XT4s and XT5s, there are no AWD models any where.

My guess is that this design is coming from a Europe-targeted product, because in the US the brand, and the lack of technology (electrification, transmission and power output) all tel me this is for retirees in Florida, which isn t a huge market.

So, compared to a Subaru crosstrek, it has less power, less space, less cargo, less wheels driving it and a slightly lower price? Where is it made though? If this is made in US or Canada cool. If this is another Chinese import though. Hmmmmmm

Happy to see a reasonably priced new vehicle, but the design is a missed opportunity to me. The styling is beautiful and I would have used it on a more powerful vehicle costing in the 50-60, 000 range. Maybe too much for overstyled Lyriq?

I think it looks great in and out. I think they nailed the styling for the price. 30 grand for a top trim model these days is reasonable. It may be a bit underpowered, but that s why there are other models to move up to.

I don't mind the 6 speed automatic transmission. In fact, I'd rather have this than the 8/9 speed transmissions manufacturers are offering these days. It's just a shame that they didn't offer a 2. 0 4 cylinder engine and AWD.

That's a really pretty car actually, probably competing with the CX-30 for nicest looking in the segment. It is a missed opportunity for an ev model though, even if it was just an updated version of the Bolt underneath.

Interesting Buick badging, sleek for sure but looks like a swing and a miss with no AWD and only 6 speed auto. Might as well go back to 5 spd.
The rear is high so looks like going for a X6, GLE, ZDX look going on.

Finally a grille that softens, I congratulate this direction in a sea of useless ruggedness.
Buick may be the most reliable american brand, I just hope the Rav4 comes back to its '13-'18 nose.

So it is a chevy Trax. If gm was intelligent the 1. 3 would be standard and the 1. 5 from the equinox would be the upgrade. Having a 1. 2 and 1. 3 turbo will eventually be a problem.
