The 2023 Volkswagen Jetta Is VW's Last Sedan With An Uncertain Future

Nobody seems to know what the future holds for VW's last gasoline powered sedan in America. It looks like there will be a 2024 version, but it doesn't look like it'll be much different. With sluggish sales and VW's focus on electrification, the Jetta will likely soldier on for a few more years with only minor changes. On the other hand, it's a screaming deal with high fuel economy, a fun to drive nature and a big back seat.

As long as you can still get a base manual Jetta under or at 16 grand discounted? I think its worth a serious consideration. But over 19 grand? Nope. Nothing has been released that has convinced me to sell my 2015 Scion XB. First car for a teen? No way. Insurance on a new car is HIGH! Risk of bumping inti crap. a teen needs a 4500 car.

I've always liked the Jetta. Seeing how sedans are falling out of favor, I think manufacturers should offer wagon versions and ditch the sedans but still keep a traditional car in their lineup with the cargo practicality that people love from a crossover. Glad they still offer a manual!

I love mine. Base model Jetta S with the stick. It's comfortable, practical, quiet, pretty fun to drive, and gets truly insane gas mileage (last road trip 56 mpg. I find the seats perfectly comfortable and my two large convertible child seats fit well.

I started with the 2004 German built this jetta, auto. 2006 Jetta tdi manual. 275, 000 miles later. 2016 American Passat. Quality down hill. Now they ended Passat and the Arteon in America. Time for more reliability.

Brian, We hear you have absconded to KBB, what's Micah Muzio really like? Getting back to cars and small sedans in particular, buyers who can't/won't shift their own gears would be better off with a Corolla Hybrid.

The most anonymous sedan in the market. VW's goal with the Jetta was clearly to be the most generic as possible. That's not going to persuade any buyer without throwing a special deal and what not.

I guess the Arteon doesn t count because technically it s a hatchback but it s still on sale I believe at least through 2024 it s a shame they didn t give the Passat a chance though.

a better handling and performance car than the corolla and elantra. he's reviewing the 6 speed and not the automatic. get the automatic. it gets the best mpg rating on the hwy

The Jetta is by far my most favorite car, before I moved to Europe I had a 2017 Jetta SE with a manual, now since there s no more Jetta s in Europe I have a 2023 Taigo. Love VW!

Again the problem is that you simply cannot find S trim manual transmission models on the dealer lots So value pricing isn't really being offered.

I find this generation of Jetta to be one of the worst looking sedans in the market. This is coming from someone who had owned VW's most of my life.

Brian or Alex. Any advice for someone interested into getting into car reviews? I've always wanted to do it but don't really know where to start.

How do Volkswagen manage to keep making such boring looking cars. I'm impressed because they've been doing this for at least 20 years now.
