The 2025 Toyota Camry Is All-New & All Hybrid!

This is the 2025 Toyota Camry folks, and it's all-new and ALL HYBRID! The 9th generation Camry ditches the controversial X-faced styling of its predecessor for a look that's way, way sexier. Who would have thought Prius like styling would be a good thing? Go figure. The big news is under the hood, so let's start there. The only engine on offer is the 5th generation 2. 5L hybrid system which will crank out 225 HP in the FWD model and 232 HP in the AWD model. AWD will be available in all trims, but no model will feature a V6. If you want V6 like power, you'll have to step up to a Crown with the Hybrid Max 2. 4L turbo. Speaking of turbos, the lack of a 2. 4L turbo came as a surprise to me. Fuel economy has yet to be announced, but it'll probably be around 50 MPG like the current model. Yep, 50 MPG in a family sedan. On sale in the spring of 2024 the Camry will come in LE, SE, XLE, and XSE trims. The blue/green model in the photos is the XLE and the silver one is the XSE. They get different front end looks are some interior tweaks as well. Speaking of the interior, it has a few styling elements from the Crown, including the same big LCDs (optional) but charts its own course for the rest. While I wouldn't exactly call the black dash louvers traditional, the styling is less avant garde than the bz4x. Headroom appears fairly average in the front and solid in the rear. Rear seat room is certainly for me at 6-feet tall than the Honda Accord or Hyundai Sonata, mainly because the Camry keeps a more traditional roofline instead of opting for a sportback style. We don't have complete specs or pricing yet, but I'll make a few educated guessed: Legroom and headroom are likely very similar or exactly the same as the current model. The trunk looks to be around 16 cubic feet which is huge. The current Camry starts at 26, 420 but the hybrid is 28, 855. While I would hope the new model splits the difference, the 2025 is more likely to start around 29, 000. What do you think? Are you team Camry or do you like the slinkier styling of the Accord? How about the refreshed Sonata which now has less fish face than before?

Not sure if I'm the only one, but I'm really not liking the latest Toyota family design here. this car looks worse than the outgoing model in every way imo. Also not digging the amber DRL, white would be better.
But I'm glad Camry is finally going all hybrids, it's the only powertrain that makes sense on a family sedan or daily driver. I'm tired of seeing dealers not stocking enough of the hybrids because they think more people want the gas 4 cylinder, then charge a premium for the hybrids because they have lower inventory of those. Having all hybrid lineup also means lower hybrid premium in pricing.

Looks more like an major refresh than an all-new model (see North American XV50 Camry changeover between the 2014 and 2015 MYs.
Front end is an improvement but the rear end, with the Subaru Legacy-esque taillights, is a downgrade. The interior, while better than the one in the 2021 refresh, isn't much of an improvement over the 2018 model.
Standard hybrid is a nice touch. Curious how Toyota will price this model though. Also hoping for the appearance of the RAV4 Prime's powertrain soon. I think that would be a fine replacement for the V6.

Thank you Alex for calling out Toyotas beyond zero marketing nonsense! Hybrids directly produce emissions like any other ICE car, so it very much is not beyond zero it s before zero like you said. Toyota needs to cut this out, especially since they re putting their beyond zero marketing on ANY electrified car they make, even the hybrid max Tundras and Sequoias that get 18MPG, far from beyond zero emissions and borderline green washing imo.

Wish they did a full redesign to more completely embrace the new design language. Bothers me that you can tell the outermost portion of the headlights are the same as the outgoing model, and they tried to hide it by morphing it as it transitions towards the center of the car. Just looks weird. But I guess they basically did what they did with the GT86 to GR86 transition, same core structure, change the front and back.
reply

That is actually a really nice design language change - a lot of Prius influence when it comes to front and back, but inside it is more traditional Camry.
Piano black is traditionally bad decision, but you can delete it with decent vinyl job. Still, it costs money and time to fix something you should not have to deal with.
BTW, it has a plastic engine cover on top? I thought they got rid of it on every model: )

So you were all saying oh you re wrong naveen. Your typical Toyota hate as usual. The Camry will beat the competition
Well clearly it didn t happen did it?
I m so glad this vehicles a dud. Another phone in from Toyota as usual. I m keeping my 2020 v6 model and in general the accord and sonata already terminated this abomination and the clown sedan.
What do you have to say now huh?

reply

Very handsome vehicle but the piano black is an unfortunate choice due to scratches, fingerprints, and dust showing up. Overall a great design and I'm sure it will be a very efficient vehicle! The switch to hybrid-only makes sense too. It will allow them to fully focus on producing these hybrids which should allow them to be more economically priced, plus a win for the environment.

All hybrid even on the base trim without having to upcharge (compared to the regular gas model) any more? Color me interested. This might be my next car once I'm done with my current one, we'll see. Even if it's the faux AWD only in really poor weather conditions that you hope you don't have to actually use but it's better than nothing.

Definitely smoother than the clunky current model which frankly looks like the frumpy middle aged woman next door who put on way too much makeup and too tight yoga pants. I agree with Alex, kind of surprised they are not offering a high-performance version, but having the most standard HP in its segment gives it a leg up.
reply

I think this is a nice compromise between a refresh and ground up. Let s be honest most buyers of the Camry, at least in the US, are uber/lyft drivers, so the most important things are rear comfort, fuel economy, and trunk space. Hence, you re not getting big boy prius/coupe body lines this generation.

What a disappointment. The lights won t age well with those claws. Those claws are from the old accord and the old 2012 Camry. Then during the mid-cycle refresh they de-claw the lights. I promise you Toyota will de-claw this Camry with whatever refresh comes for this new generation. Ugly
reply

Can ALWAYS count Alex being FIRST to bring on the goods!
I was really hopping that the Camry would make the Accord DOA, but this car is coming off as more of an MCE reskin of the 2024 vs an all-new car. The 2018 was a quantum leap over the 2017 car. This isn't. that.

reply

I actually dont think a Camry can be a family sedan. My family currently has one. Its nice. But a crossover just makes more sense. It is absolutely ridiculously that I at 5'9 have my head touching the roof. Getting out of the thing even with being athletic is a pain as well.
reply

Oh, God! Please don t tell me, Toyota designed the brake lights and the rear turn signal lights to share the same dual functioning single bulb? Please don t tell they messed this up, like they did with the Grand Highlander! Red turn signals
reply

Don't mind piano black on the dash but why the center console, the steering wheel, and the window switches!
edit: actually the window switches look like they might be a satin finish? should just use that on the wheel and center console.

Honda is going to have to rethink their hybrid strategy. When you have all Camrys with Lithium battery getting 45+ MPG, the Accord may struggle in sales. A Camry Prime (if created) will give buyers considering an EV another strong option.
reply

This new Camry looks like a mid cycle refresh than a new model, same with the accord. It make s business sense to reuse and update platforms and drive trains. I am neither disappointed or excited about it, I feel whelmed.
reply

As an driver of a 2018 Camry, this looks more like a facelift for the front and rear to keep the Camry up-to-date with Toyota's current design standard but interior-wise, material choice gotten luxurious.
reply

The front end looks much better executed than the Prelude concept haha.
The tail lights also are much better looking than the Gen 10 Accord's, with similar C shape.
Can't wait to see the GR version soon.

reply

Alex, Kudos to Toyota for going all-Hybrid with the Camry and offering a high mpg AWD model. Let's just hope they can build them fast enough to supply the demand.
