i love land rovers, but everyone thinking a cayenne is not a capable offroader (up to the 2017 ones) is just plain dump. The matter of the fact is that the comparisson was stubid because porsche was on summer performance tires and the path they took didnt look the same. Im not saying a land rover with low range is not better, but up to 2017 caynnes came from the factory with two locking diffs, air suspension and underbody protection, only lacking low range. The first gen caynenne had a low range too. And the are way more dynamic and reliable than land rovers. And i cant emphase this enough, I LOVE land rovers, but still if want to be fair, that was just test of the tires. For most people these are both good offroad, and ots really sad people dont use them to their full abilities but rather for driving throuth cities looking all nice.

Hah, optional 21 inch wheels with performance tyres on the Cayenne. Seems fair, right? The RR definitely has a much higher tyre wall than the Cayenne. And the standard 19s on the Cayenne would have been more fair. Anyways, who cares if the Cayenne isn-t like the Range Rover. If I want a comfy and refined box on wheels that corners like a boat I will not think of Porsche. If however I want a still comfortable and refined, off road capable rocket that corners as flat as a sports car, I-ll definitely think Porsche.

Plain to see rr favor right out of the gate. Put the Porsche on the uphill side and redo. I own both. And it-s not as far off as you make it to be. But I-m America we actually do it strait side by side. Not put our fave on the easier slope. And a RR feels like a box on the highway. Porsche on comfort setting is a way smoother highway ride.

No mention of tyres used.
The Cayenne would have highway tyres and the RR probably had all-terrains.
Not a very proper test either as they only did 1 type of retain and the second part they drove on different parts of the field.
Not a legitimate indication of abilities unless a thorough test is done.

Christ the Porsche fanboys are such crybabies! Whaaa whaaa they did not have the same tires! whaa whaa the Porsche was on the wrong side og the hill! Just stop yourselfs! The Range Rover has ALWAYS been the hallmark of luxury offroading watch any class test and it's the same resault every single time.

As a Porsche Cayenne Turbo owner I can assure you I will never be in that situation. Now lets go find a track and each do a lap. After all, these vehicles will spend 99. 999999999999% of their time on the road. If I want to climb a wet muddy hill I'll get my F-150 and put it in low.

Rubbish test, put the cayenne tyres on the rangey and RR tyres in the Cayenne. Totally different result. What a load of clap trap, and this is supposedly a professional journalist? You can see the pound notes from LR hanging out his back pocket.

3: 47 -I don't think [the Porsche is] ganna do anything at all- definitely biased. I have both and love them each equally. I'll admit the range rover does look cooler, but you can just fly in the cayenne and not even notice!
