I love the nerdy details Matt always reveals in his reviews. You look at the time and there's still half a vid remaining and you get excited that more is still there. I like Steve Sutcliffe but this review of the 110 is twice as good as Steve's review of the same car just because Prior gives so much more information about the steering, the gearshifts, powerband, engine noise, chassis details. this is the info reviews are for. This is what set Chris Harris apart from others back in the day.
If it weren't for Matt Prior and a few other journos, I wouldn't bothering watching these reviews.

This car is more Porsche than the current 718 Cayman. While Porsche made their car look more aggressive, the Alpine looks just more likeable and -soft- which fits a car of this size an power just better. Porsche was good at making sweet, lovely looking cars that have an evil soul, now they make their cars evil looking with the soul of a sheep. The 718 is a good car, but the Alpine just has the Momentum on it-s side. The frenchies just nailed it this time. And I-m fully in love with those looks

I love the lightweight approach. I love the look of the design. It doesn't sound like you think the DCT is particularly good.
Whilst I love that you're excited by this car it's almost as though you're deliberately ignoring the fact that Lotus has been doing exactly this with the Elise, Exige, Europa, Evora since 1996. The current Elise is 244kg lighter than this.
21 years of lightweight, bonded aluminium cars with gearbox options and class leading steering feel. Worth a mention?

It is rather expensive, but this really is the 718 Cayman & 4C biggest rival. The combination of lightweight, turbocharge mid engine great handling sports coupe is brilliant, especially for a long time comeback. The only real sad thing is living in Canada I'll likely never see one in here ever.

For once and for all will people get over this manual gearbox nostalgia! High performance cars deserve high performance gearboxes and a manual isnt it. Move with the times. An please dont tell me a paddleshift gearbox takes the fun out of driving. that old chestnut has been flogged to death!

What really bothers me with the A110 is the following: Alpine's main goal was FUN; fun = light, alright, so in order to save a few kilograms, they sacrificed the manual transmission, thus greatly reducing fun. They shot themselves in the foot. I'll stick with my manual Cayman then.

Great to see a real sports car and its low kerb weight. Torsional rigidity is nothing to brag about though. An old Z4M Coupe is 33k NM/dog and that's a 15yrs old design. That's the problem with aluminium I guess. Way too expensive and manual gearbox. Shame.

I'm so glad this is proving to be a good car. Alpine is just a cool, cool brand and I really want this to succeed. This seems like my kind of car too, transmission choice notwithstanding. Probably the 2017 car I most wish I could drive on roads I know well.

Their is no manual gearbox because the car is too short. They've tried to propose one, but it just doens't fit. They would have had to make it like 10cm longer, which means more weight. Theyr decided to go with no manual instead of added weight.

4: 49 WAIT WHAT? the 4C is carbon fibre monoccque, don't hit me with that raw BS. it's a glued together aluminium frame. Lotus does that, but it weighs a lot less and can be had for a lot less money.
