Fastest van track battle: Transit vs Sprinter

We set out to answer the question that has set van man against van man for generations. Which is faster, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter or Ford Transit? warren: i'm sure the narrator knows a good bit about vehicles, but when he said they have a lot of grip, that is kind of misleading. when they have a lot of weight in them or are fully loaded, that will all change. the amount of grip you have from a given tire size is pretty much proportional to the weight that is on it. the test vehicles were unloaded. when i drove professionally as a drive away driver and delivered brand new trucks, stepvans, and motorhomes from a body manufacturer or motorhome factory, i was often surprised at how fast i could take some of the medium sized ones through a corner. but i'm sure it is only because they were completely empty. the stiff springing does not allow too much body roll and weight transfer. but with the stiff springing and truck tires that have stiff sidewalls, you don't get the usual seat-of-the-pants indicators that the tires are reaching their - limit of adhesion -, that they are about to break loose, like you do in the average passenger car. and the ford had dual rear tires, so you have twice the grip on the rear end than with single tires. that doesnt mean you can go around a corner twice as fast, but it does help, and because the ford and mercedes were similar in weight, it of course gave the transit an advantage

I prefer the Ford Transit really - put it this way, at my former school, Fitzwaryn in Wantage, Oxfordshire I was at from around 1997 to Friday 17th July 2009, the X-reg Ford Transit we had (the early 2000's type model) never once broke down (at least when I was in it) -!
It was better (and liked more by most or all members of staff) than the 54-reg blue LDV.
At Abingdon College (was there from Monday 14th September 2009 to Friday 6th July 2012) the best minibus I think was the 17-seat 59-reg Ford Transit. That and the 59-reg Nissan Qashqai (college car it was) we took down to Dorset on a 4-night residential trip.
The Ford Transit was the best in passenger comfort I reckon -.
And when I was at my former school to watch an afternoon nativity / christmas day, I was told (after I asked) that green minibus (the X-reg) is still going. It gets serviced regularly. I bet other models wouldn't have lasted almost 19 years. I bet it will still going now and make it to 20 years old.
I can see it lasting at least 5 more years!

Okay so he's comparing these two vehicles the transit he has the duallys with the different rear axle and everything but he's going to get a sprinter van that doesn't have the duallys of course it's going to be different and turning cuz those don't turn as good and grip I got a 2018 Mercedes Sprinter van 3500 extended high roof with the super singles on the back and it has the different rear end like that Transit and it does the same exact it drives great around curves and corners I don't know why you would compare one with duallys and different rear axle suspension compared to the other one is of course going to be

Got a USA spec transit high roof, extended. with an eco boost v-6 to. it outruns every Sprinter sold in the US and tows a lot more, 0-60 mph in 6. 8 sec stock. but a tune and exhaust drops that number a bit. Loved my T1N Sprinter. but the new ones will make you miserable with the cost of owning one past warranty. Drive 45-70K miles a year. Transit is holding up well into 200K miles.

I just came to see if someone else had as much fun driving a transit as I do driving one everyday.
It has to be the greatest introduction to rear wheel drive ever.
I don-t even know what car delivers as much enjoyment just puttering around town without ever really having to exceed 60mph.
A Miata maybe?

I wonder how much Ford payed them to do this. No way an equivalent Ford to my Sprinter will beat it. Unless Max Verstappen drives it, but even still. Highly questionable. Highly unfair review. You may feast on a certain male bodypart, sir.

Is this a serious show? Seems like they don-t know the basic rules about comparing similar products. I would like to see them compare it to a 516 sprinter instead. Similar amount of wheels and length.

I wish i had bought the Transit and not the Sprinter, i had nothing but trouble with it and i hated dealing with the arrogant German company over constant warranty problems.

I personally drive both a single wheel and a dually sprinter and the dually is a huuuudge handling difference and is geared heavier defiantly pulls harder

I always see that Prime or DHL they would use Mercedes Sprinter so much
and its the best choice
some of them make it a luxury van
