2021 Mazda MX-30: a fun but flawed electric SUV? Bob: I'm strongly considering swapping my old BMW 630i for one of these. The last time I had more than one passenger was when my daughter was at school. That's about 20 years ago. The last time I drove more than 50 miles to get somewhere was 6 years ago. I don't need long range. I don't need rear seats. What I do like is a car that is aesthetically pleasing to look at (Teslas go to the bottom of that list) and still has physical switchgear. I'm not a fan of touchscreens (I got rid of my iPhone and bought a used Blackberry Bold with a proper keypad because I couldn't get anything done with the touchscreen, so I'm glad to see that where one is used, normal, physical controls are also available. This looks like my kind of car.

I do not trust Mazda anymore! MX30 is my last Mazda ever!
Mazda has presented a lot of wrong figures to make the MX30 more appealing, such as range (260km, which is far from the reality, the real range during the winter on the highway is about 110KM and 140KM off highway and worst is the charging time, it takes over 3 hours to recharge the battery on a CCS 50KW/h charging station and not 45 minutes as announced by Mazda! God forbid, if you go on a journey over 100km away from home, you need to stop over 3 hours at a fast charging station to be able to drive less than one hour!
And over 8hrs on an AC (11 KW/h) charger.

i've been Driving this car for two days in France, well it look amazing, every body looks at you when driving in the cityt, it drives good, the sound sys is amazing even more, but the consomption is something to worry about ( cause ful chare give you 185KM with ideal weather condition with no AC on, no driving mood for sure, and it doesn't jump as other Electric rivals ( hyundai kona ), the worst thing is the back seats: so clustrophobic, even friends won't enjoy the ride. i think this car need only two things: normal rear door + at least 350KM batterie. is so sad that we can't spend money on such a lovely well designed car

Did Airfix or Tamiya. have anything to do with the hideous exterior plastics.
Does mazda supply meguiars back to grey or black or whatever these are. because they will look awful after 3 months.
and the biscuit beige interior.
reversing camera. just look around were you going.
adaptive cruise what. ? I drive the car it does not drive me.
and yeah my mum will have to wait half an hour before I can pick her up.
Mazda are just not what they used to be.

We just got ours, and we love it! Fun to drive, really nice interior, and the 200km range is more then enaugh for us since we use it as a second car for commute and trips to the town (live on the countryside, rearly any need for more then 120 km in a day(roads here are mainly 70km/h, so we drive it at 1, 5kw at 5 plus degress)and charge it over night with the granny cabel. If we need to go longer or stuff in all the kids (3, we take the Ford S-max Diesel.

Well, it looks like this is for single people or couples with 1 kid. But I wonder, why should they make cars with huge back seat areas when most people are only having 1 child? The families with more than 2 kids are a minority. Isnt it smart to make cars for the majority of people? Those people are singles and small families. Most of us don't live on a farm anymore. Don't we know that?

Yep, flawed, your giving a lift to three people, dropping them off on your way to wherever, you stop to drop off a back seat passenger, you, the driver has to get out to let them out, whereas in a four door!

It's irrelevant comparing it to an id3 because there is a 51 week waiting time. I'm having my MX delivered on 1st March on new 22 plate. VW price is also extortionate for a car you can't have.

This car will cover your average commute and then some. It has far more character and funky design features than most anodyne EVs. Journalists are not always right.

3: 50 if you have ever flown a lowcost airline, you would call that knee space probably the size of milky way galaxy. Light years of knee space there, mate.
