Mazda have always tried to replicate the newer models of the mk5 to the older ones. Most manufacturers try to get more of everything but Mazda didnt want to loose what made the original so great in the first place! The fact there isnt alot between them (if they started at the same time) is a good sign if you ask me!

So pointless, head starts? That's not a race!
Also if you're gonna test the bigger engine version of the old car then the new 2 litre should have been used.
This test told me bothing, stopped watching after 60 seconds, total rubbish

I think if the old one had the same amount of horse power it did when it was made since old cars loose horse power over time they would be about the same. Still would rather have a 1. 8 first gen tho

just so pointless and nonsense. The main difference is that the old mx5 is still here today, but the new one after 10 years maximum it will be scraped cause it will never work.

What's the point of the staggered start? They have almost identical performance, of course the new one would never make up that two seconds.
