Citroen C5 X first look: could this be the most comfortable car ever built?

This is the all new Citroen C5 X: a car which on the face of it is a tough car to pigeonhole. The French brand reckons that it takes elements of a traditional saloon, spacious estate and a high-riding SUV and rolls them all up into one quirky package. But one thing is for sure - few cars on sale today place so much of a strong focus on comfort. So is this a case of a confused identity, or a true return to the big, soft Citroens like the CX and the C6? We examine the details

Not a true flagship Citroen, and the number 5 in C5X says it all. it belongs to their 5 series models, which have always been one step down from the flagship. Its fine for a 5 series model, but not fitting for a Citroen presidential flagship. Styling is too fussy, there is way to much surface entertainment, its almost Subaru Liberty Outback like, and the rear seats are not sculpted individual seating either.
There have only been 4 true Citroen 4 door flagships over a long period of time. the DS, CX, XM, & C6. All of these were bold, unique, elegant, and clean designs.
The C6 in my mind, was the last and the best of them all. It was truely presidential done the Citroen way, and embodies all of the qualities i mentioned above. it's design was a true work of art, and the fact that the rear passengers even had electric rear bucket seats, speaks volumns about its true grand luxury fitout.
So in my opinion, the C5X is not fitting to be a Citroen flagship, and the DS9 looks like it should have been a Peugeot flagship instead. And i'm sorry but Citroen and DS belong together, not separate. Citroen is the daddy, and it should be proud to be the leading luxury french brand, with the name Citroen adoring all DS models.
No, Citroen need a C6 DS. all wheel drive, Hybrid / electric, modern day evolution of the previous C6, with non-folding, electrically adjustable luxuriously sculpted rear seating, and an aircraft style overhead roof console. And bring back the height adjustable suspension that Citroen was always famous for. Now that would be fitting for a true Citroen flagship.
P. S. And i'm not convinced that this new type of suspension from Citroen, is as smooth riding as the brilliant height adjustable hydropneumatic suspensions of the past either.

In the spirit of C6 and CX? Where, I dare to ask? C6 and CX were marvels of engineering, innovation - and, not the least, quirkiness. This car does not deserve to be compared to masterpieces like the Traction Avant and the DS. Not even the 2CV
There is absolutely no charm or inventiveness in this french version of a Toyota RAV4 with the ungainly front of the Cactus and a touch of bloated BMW 5-series. I love Citroens, but this is not a Citroen

Stunning! I have been driving Citroen cars for 14 years and see no reason for that to change. Comfort is one thing but equally important is cabin ergonomics. Citroen pack their cars with bells and whistles and all the controls fall to hand exactly where they should be. Compare that to the latest Japanese cars where nothing ever seems to be in quite the right place or work quite so well.

I have had 5 Citreon C5 Exclusives over the last few years. They have proved to be reliable, comfortable, quick and spacius. I would like to see a non hybrid 2 litre turbo engine and the car be provided with a full size spare wheel. The modern glue kit provision is a joke and the long term future of electric cares does not seem viable because of the cost of replacement batteries.

I've been a big fan of the brand since I can remember, but it's not a Citroen. This is a strange Chinese understanding of a nice car, if we remove all the plastic and meaningless details on the exterior, it remains a rather silly silhouette. There is no real Citroen after the last Xantia produced. Not to mention DS, CX, SM.

Sporty vs. Comfy, well preaching to the choir here I guess lol. But. Has anyone heard of the EV revolution! This car is ancient rolling of the production line, yes, even the hybrid model, 32 miles. lol? This is my next car though, I dont like batteries, hope someone will make spareparts.

Reliability and durability are very important for markets that import cars. also after sale services and parts are considered priority. the price is very high for such a car. chinese cars are getting better everyday with lower prices such car has no chance to compete

With the guilt/ climate issue / EV range issues, destroying interest, and speed cameras delivering the -coup de grace-, good motorway speeds, comfort and noise levels are the only important thing. It is now about comfort and transport.

A daily car shouldn't be as low as a traditional car yet not as high as an SUV. And a very comfortable ride should be mandatory. For weekend drive, I can have a sports car (2 doors coupe, manual, preferably Italian. Just my opinion.

Great video about a car that looks excellent. Would appreciate less -Citroen says. - and more what reviewer found. Also don't ask me if it would take me away from its competitors, what do you, the reviewer think and why?
