To my eyes, your visuals are better than you take credit for; fine contrast even in the shadowy areas and good enough camera perspectives. I enjoyed the tour of this Prius's undercarriage as it's virtually identical to that of my '09 Ecksby--biggest difference being my down-state NY car's lack of rust due to periodic painting and coating. A tip from the aircraft maintenance world: when many fasteners need to go back in as with that subframe, mark each nut/bolt with the proper ink marker (like nail polish) with a line carried onto the (cleaned) part surface after the fastener is torqued, one at a time. It serves both to assure you've hit each one and to indicate any loosening in the future.

My 1992 Ford Aerostar van is a vehicle that you can't see anything under the hood. You got to be thinking What was Ford thinking . I put it in a shop here in Grantsville west Virginia for a fuel pump and sparkplugs and wires. The shop had the van for two months. They did the fuel pump but sent the wires and plugs back to Napa. when I picked the van up. they had the engine cow cover off but never changed the plugs and wires. They charged me only for the fuel pump and fuel sending unit. Cost me $397. 50 for just the pump and fuel sending unit. This was on a Rust Free Florida Van that has never been on salted roads

You'll be doing the rear axle next. And I hope the hybrid battery has been done or there may be a surprise in the near future. Oh well, another video opportunity. The rims look awful and that's how my corolla rims looked so I got 2020 used corolla rims and wheel covers off marketplace for my 2009 S because I assumed they weren't safe, but a tire shop said I could clean up my alloy rims and have them painted and cleared and they would be worth good money. Never saw a wheel cover for an alloy rim before.

When I have to do brake lines I dread going into the job but while I'm doing it things go along. I don't have much luck getting the brake lines off the wheel cylinders or the bleeders loose and that makes the job tough. Brake fluid on the hands isn't great either. I've never done factory pre bend lines and have just found the copper/nickel lines. I hope I never do a sub frame on anything. Thanks for the video again Mr. O. Always interesting and informative.

What do you do without the RUST Well ask Rainman Ray or Pine Hollow. ha. Thanks Eric for the fun content. - missed all of your joking at the beginning of the video. Looks like you were being serious: ) How do you know where each bolt went I mean wow - there were so many different sizes and it seems so many times you would get mixed up or put a too short or too long in the wrong areas. Guess that is why I don't do that type of work -

I never would’ve even thought of replacing something like the subframe. All my vehicles get replaced due to rust, but I don’t wait until you can poke your finger through most of the frame. All that work the customer had done, should have sprung for a fluid film application of the undercarriage at least. maybe add another year or two.

You're killing me Eric. I've been watching your videos since the pre-Miss Hannah days and that damn bofa deez nuts line still makes me laugh every time.
And you better move that Outback over to the Official SMA SubaruBay(tm) before replacing the subframe. working on a Subaru in the wrong bay is tempting fate.

U hate doing brake lines, but you're damn good at it. Dumb question: Did u bend the lines or did they come that way I'm assuming OEM, yes.
I'm sorry, that's a clean Prius, has a lot of life left. Being ball joints needed burnt off, good move on customer's call. Great work/ just like new!

The belly pan is starting to look like swiss cheese. Should call the customer ask him if he wants to pay for some rattle can rust converter sprayed on the trunk belly pan it might give it a few more months of life before the holes get big to see daylight clearly through the bottom.

I did the rear brake lines on my 1999 Camry. It seems as if the brake lines were installed first and the rest of the car built around it. No way I could use OEM metal lines. Had to use NiCop, and it was still a PITA. Impressive that you got the OEM lines installed!

33: 53 I really like the format that Lock Picking Lawyer uses to title his videos. Each one starts with a number, so he can suggest to go reference video [956] and it's really easy to go find the video he's referring to later regardless of what else is in the video title.

I'm down three red sticks from when the rattle cans go full propellant at an angle. Disappear into the body cavities like a rocket into the void. Rodents, woodpeckers, and rust all hate the lovely wooly snot though. Airboxes. fuse trays. heat-blankets.

Howdy Eric, bought a 2024 Toyota Tundra Limited. Residing in the People’s Republic of Minnesota I had a shop apply a double coat of Cosmolene. They did offer fluid film but I opted for cosmoline. Does this offer superior protection to fluid film

Another professional job. Man, PRNY salt really does a number on the undercarriage Customer lucky to have you to give that Prius a new life, at least for some period of time. Worth the wait for Part 2, and I didn't call or come by. .

Eric, you're turnin' rust! Oh wait that's those Texas guys, Oops! You're dealing with rust! That's a different trip. Always makes me glad to live in New Mexico-the no rust capitol. Congrats as you prevail once again! Cheers!

I can only imagine your comment section ( I'm not going to read them ) you did all this work in 2 video's roughly 1 hours work and charged customer 5 hours labor. Ba ha ha
WOW! You do an awesome job keep up the good work.

Maybe a quick shot of the rotted subframe on the next prius that you are going to do would be good. Really like to see theWHYyou do something. and we already seen the how. This newer subaru will be interesting to see too.

Brake line jobs are the worst. Hate working in gloves but just seeing the brake fluid running on your bare hands made my fingers wrinkle.
I got rust in my britches is the equivalent of I got blisters on my fingers

My mother had a 2010 Ford Fusion that had way more rust than the Prius. The Fusion had a hole in the floor and rockers were crushed up and rear sub frame rotted also. My 2003 Saturn L series has barely any rust.
reply

I still think customer would come out cheaper to buy a 2010 Prius with no rust from the south they’re going to need a rear end too very very soon and quite a few unibody repairs I’d imagine up in there.
