we have a look at a Ford Escape that came in with a customer complaint of check engine light on and battery light on. Didn't take long to find a P0453 EVAP System Pressure Sensor High and a code P0625 Generator Field Circuit Low. Let's see what we find!

I finally watched the videos in the correct order.
Sounded like a hub bearing was shot on that thing! Those were some noisy tires!
Love the fix on the EVAP pressure sensor - I love when I get easy ones like that! Doesn't happen too often.
Another short Smitty comment, lol. Nothing good to talk about around here lately. My mom is rapidly sliding downhill from cancer. Pretty crappy thing to go through, but not much we can do. It's in God's hands - at least we know where she will be going. Prayers are always appreciated - she's not suffering, so that is a big blessing. Hug your loved ones & cherish them, for the future is always uncertain. Cancer is a demon from hell. First my best friend, then my other best friend's mom & both neighbors, then my old neighbors, a current neighbor, the former owner of my house, and now my mom. It likes to take everything you love and leave you with nothing. Sorry for the downer. Just venting a little.

This has to be a newer escape/tribute this one has the v6 3. 0L too but the alternator is up front. Whereas the older escape/tribute the alternator is tucked back towards the firewall. My friend has a 2004 Tribute and we found out why he was going through alternators on his. The exhaust manifold cracked and it was blowing hot exhaust directly onto the alternator burning them out. Right now hes trying to get another friend who owns a lift and all the tools to pop the exhaust manifold out. The greatest fear we have is one of the manifold bolts busting off in the head. Also found out none of the salvage yards will not sell a good used manifold because it has a built in cat.

I have a question, I just opened my shop it's very small. I was wondering how do you charge a customer if the job takes 15mins? For example a town and country came in with a power steering Leak. I took 5 mins to diagnose and 10 minutes to fix. The same van was in my shop two weeks ago. She ran out of gas and the level sensor was stuck on half. Again it took me 10 mins to diagnose. She didn't want it fixed. I was wondering how you handle that or anyone that owns a shop feel free to comment. I would be greatful. The thing is I feel bad because she a really nice lady. I don't want to rip anyone off but I have to charge something.

as an owner of a messed up 2003 ford escape i inherited, your videos have helped me exponentially. Course some electrical mysteries are yet to be resolved but ill keep watching and learning. On a side note. i have found your voice an communication skills are so calming and soothing (yeah i know that sounds kinda weird considering your voice isnt really calming and soothing lol, but you have a style that makes it hard to get frustrated with whatever work im doing. and i fear i may have my first man-crush. never saw that coming. Damn youtube! Keep the good work coming Eric!

Why didn't you air up the tires before you drove the vehicle? Most tire blowouts are caused by low tire pressure (heat. I always over pressurize my tires by 3 -4 psi. Why? Because overinflated tires will not blowout. you may have slightly more tire wear in the center of the tire but no worry about blowouts.
Low tire pressure is why you see so many trailers on the side of the road with flat tires. Always air up your trailer tires before use if needed to avoid blowouts.

Hey Eric, I've always wondered in High School Auto Shop classes when students build or rebuild an engine, even with some means of supplying coolant and dissipating heat, how can an engine run without inputs for the ECM like O2 sensors, MAF, fuel parameters etc. which are not internal to the engine itself, but on exhaust systems and air intake systems? And then, would the ECM need to be specific to the make and model of the engine that is on the stand?

Tires overheat and blowout from LOW tire pressure. not High tire pressure. Remember it is safer to have a tire over pressure compared to under inflated. I run my tires 5 psi overinflated and I have never had a blowout. What's the worst that can happen with overinflated tires? A slightly higher wear on the very center tread of the tire that is vertically impossible to detect. Over inflate your tires and you will never have a blowout.

I was thinking earlier this morning how technology is changing at such a fast rate that before a product is actually made something better has done been designed that will do way more at greater speeds. And then I thought I wonder how long before the automotive industry adapts their vehicles ALDL connection ports to a fiber optic link. I look for that in the near future.

Please do a video on gaskets. From what I can see the concensus is that if a part comes with a gasket then you should not need any sealer or silicone. No matter the type of material the gasket is made of. However, many mechanics seem to swear by gasket sealer. what is a fella to do on a paper gasket on a water pump lol.

Great vid as usual. What I typically will do is put a little diaelectric grease on the rubber seal it will let it plug in alot easier and also helps create a weather proof seal as well. Im sure your already aware but for others that watch you can put a little on a pocket screwdriver and apply a little to the seal.
