we take a look at this 1999 Honda Accord that was dropped off with a symptom of no horn, no cruise control and the air bag light was on. Sounds like a pretty classic symptoms of a clock spring / cable reel so lets grab the test light and do the hoki-poki

THANK YOU! This helped me so much! Pretty much exactly the same problem I had! (Horn worked for me, but the cruise didnt and the SRS light was on) hoping the SRS light will stay off because I cleared that code. Well see. Thank you so much again! I was able to replace this all on my own. Thanks to my local shop though for narrowing it down to this particular part of the vehicle though. They told me it was in the steering column but would be too expensive to fix. With this video I was able to fix it myself!

Important note to those who may be buying one of these from eBay. Take your old one off and verify that the connections are exactly the same. Our daughter's car is a 2003 Accord and the clock spring we ordered from eBay guaranteed to fit 2003-2007 did not fit. The wire connections were different. We opted to buy genuine Honda part (52. 22) from College Hills Honda in Cleveland. We've ordered from them in the past and never had issues.

30 seconds in, noticed the cruise was in the steering wheel. I'm going with Clockspring for the win. Guessing rack and pinion was changed out at a previous shop and they spun the wheel while out or installed the rack while off center. Would bet the customer drove it away and on a sharp turn or while parking, the ABS light came on. Let's see if I'm right.

You were lucky on this one. On my car the clock spring was okay, but none of the buttons worked. Turns out the buttons ground side was done through a shaky wiping contact which had to be peened a bit to restore the ground. Wonder why Honda did it that way?

Excellent video. Without people like you on YouTube I would have lost so much money. All of you guys have saved me so much and this is another example. Got our clock spring replaced without paying the dealer hundreds of dollars. Thanks again!

I got all the same symptoms but instead of cruise control not turning on, its actually suck ok but cant be shut off or set. Im gonna try to get a bypass to test my horn and work from there. I appreciate this video thanks.

I'm not sure what your name is boss but outside of being a very talented diagnostic mechanic, you also have great character and humor. Keep up the videos, some of us are learning a ton from you!

How can you test the cruise cont light if your not doing at least 25 mph, which in the past has been the lowest speed the light would turn on in any car I drove? Thanks Eric. Jpol

I took apart the steering wheel on Dodge charger. I did not know why they called it a clock spring. your video helps with the process of putting it back together. Good video!

Being a computer nut, I would refer to that as a ribbon cable. So the clock spring is really a ribbon cable. Never dreamed that's how they do that now days. Cool.
