I have a 2003 Ford F150, live in southern Indiana. I got the top three studs out. Broke the top back stud. Took it to a mechanic so he could remove the bottom 4. This is on the passenger side, which is typical for rusting out. I supplied him with a Dorman Manifold, Stainless Steel Nuts and Studs, and copper anti-seize. He had to install 2 heli coils. He charged me 335. 00. Was this a fair price. He said it took him 5 hours. He said he had to walk away a few times cause he got frustrated. Was I charged for his frustration? Love your videos. I could have done it all, but I don't have a torch!

Really? Reeeeaallllllyyyy! He is mad at you because your repair lasted 20% LONGER than the factory original? Where do these glassbowls come from? Do they study to reach this level of glassbowlishness? The owner leaves it out to rot and is surprised when it does.

I saw that you cleaned up the Old manifold and reused it. I have a 04 with the original manifolds (v10. They look very clean as the truck only has 123k miles and very little rust. Would you recommend using the old originals if they look true and flat? Thanks!

Probably costs a weeks paycheck just to start that V10. When was the last time he changed oil? 2005?

I've never seen a vehicle so rusty and crusty. Just looking around at the suspension parts and the frame while your working on the manifolds just baffles me! Get a new truck for Pete sake! Making people work on that damn thing is just mean!

Everytime I do a manifold on a car or bike, I replace the studs and bolts for Stainless.
Dissimilar metal corrosion, waaaaah! 1!
Negligible for such a tiny part. And compared to rust, I'll take that any day.

So the factory is too cheap to use stainless steel fasteners, but that doesn't mean the repair shop couldn't. Of course, there would be less work, but who really wants to do this again?

I used to work for a company that plowed with these 6. 8 trucks. Couple 5. 4 trucks in the mix too. I think just about every damn one of them had leaking manifolds. Ford engineering fail

DO NOT use oe studs and nuts or gaskets. Metric Screw and Tool Co. has stainless stud sets and get Remflex gaskets. I use these parts regularly and have no problem getting 10 + years

Clearly a lot of you people dont know what steel bolts aluminum heads and exhaust heat can do. Also if he would have used stainless steel hardware he wouldnt have had to come back
