Most of today's automatic transmission issues are the valve bodies and those solenoids/springs/check balls/valves. Some folks will take their brand new vehicle over to a transmission service center and have a shift kit installed to correct the OEM faults that come brand new with vehicles. One brand, TransGo, does the research and offers OEM similar shift patterns yet the valve bodies are getting upgrades so they do not degrade to the point that they damage the other parts of the trans. Even on used cars, a shift kit could be an answer to restore a transmission into a better state so they will last a longer life.
This is obviously not the case in the video but could be considered something to do one short time in the future. I'd have to say, most shops or 80% of them, wouldn't have spent the time to put the meter on the sensor. One day, it will get them into trouble and they will have to scratch their heads awhile to get a correct diagnosis after making the wrong call.

It drove smooth after repair, but that cable needs to be clamped down. Another Great Video!
91 GM pickups had the magnet in the sensor exposed inside the trans. There's your problem! When it failed, it went to 2nd gear limp in mode. The replacement was the upgraded sensor with the magnet covered for both the input and output shaft speed sensors. I changed both. No more problem.

I went and looked at a '95 Ram 1500 for sale, 120k, no rust, excellent shape. I scanned it and it showed a pending P0740. the owner was upfront on the phone, said he already had the trans dropped by the local shop and had the solenoid replaced
the truck drove excellent at highway and city speed, no bucking or hard shifts
do you think they just forgot to clear the code?

man I got a head-scratcher today I went and picked up a trailer backed up to it work just fine drove it home went to go back it up will not move in reverse it goes chunk when I put it in reverse but it will not move have you ever ran across that problem it is a 2002 burango

i just got a 98 dodge dakota n i don't know shit about cars. my truck is shifting hard into 2nd. supervisor at work said he had the same problem, and it was just a sensor. he said it was the throttle position sensor, but now i'm pretty sure he meant this one. thanks a lot!

I can tell the vintage of your videos by checking the condition of the bill on your Jeep cap. Lots of repair jobs have been seen by that cap. Oh and BTW you are not allergic to work. I can tell you love your job by the care you take in your repairs.

My dodge dakota has a problem where I stop and it will stay idling a little bit higher than it should only a 2 second period all the time will it be the same part or a different part? mines a 1997 dodge Dakota 3. 9 v6 2 wheel drive truck

I drove my toyota for 7 months with a broken heater fan blade. Wasnt broken bad still worked but past level 2 itd start to wobble and it was a constant smacking sound. I thought that was bad. A roof racks not worth that

I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota and it seems hesitant in 1st gear, and 4th gear it seems to have to change at about 3500 rpms, do you think the same problem is with mine? Or a speed sensor?

Hi Eric I have a 2001 Dakota v6 auto 4x4. I went to change the speed sensor like this one. And it's not there. I have a screw in style I guess. Does the screw in style work the same
